Gas prices in the middle east:

Iran .40

Saudi Arabia .45

Libia .50

Bahrain .81

Egypt .89

Kuwait .90

Hard to believe it's almost $5 a gallon here. Do you suppose this is just one more way of attacking the Western civilized world? By the way, did you know that more than half of the oil from the Alaskan pipeline goes to Japan?!? Why aren't we drilling, building more refineries, and building nuclear plants???

That is our Governmrnt for you. They have been selling Alaskan pipe line Oil to Japan for quite sometime When Oil Line was first put into operation back in 1979, they said we would never run out of Oil again. LIES, they sold to Japan for $1.00 a gallon more, instead of letting USA have it. I was in the business from 1970 to 1980. In 1976 to 1978 they rationed gas to us, only could get 70 % of what was purchased the year before. Back then there was FULL SERVICE PUMPS.. What are they doing for us now. They need to get rid of Congressmaen and woman that are senile. 8 years and out, just like President.

rip off is not even close to what we're getting!!!. Our government always seems to take "care" of everybody else first. The full impact of escalating fuel prices has not been felt yet! If you own a truck I truly feel for you. A lot of guys have been forced out of business because of fuel prices. On a brighter note, I was reading an article in the Sunday paper here about a weed that grows in the warm climates that they are turning into a type of jet fuel. An acre of this weed will produce about 300 gallons. With the 11 acres of weeds that I call home I could become rich!(LOL).........CR

I have two friends that are deeply involved in the oil and gas business. Both of them agree that the major gas companies DO IN FACT HAVE ZONE PRICING. The major oil companies will not admitt it but it is a fact they do. Now for the gas station owners, they can charge whatever they want as long as they stay competitive with local stations in there area. Did anyone notice last week when oil went up to $140 a barrel the very next day the stations raised there prices to reflect it even though the oil that went to $140 a barrel won't be in our local stations for another 2-3 weeks? Like my friends said they would love to open another station if they could. What does that tell you? It's not only the major compainies but the local stations greed as well. I would bet anything that the end of the year profit for local stations just about doubled if not more. We have a Mobil station here that is charging $4.14.9 for reg. In the next town which is about 2 1/2 miles away a Mobil station is charging $4.09.9 for the same regular gas and the middle grade at the first station is $4.24.9. Why such a differance? Same gas, same truck, about the same volume.

Those towel heads are just sticking it up our ass. Wake up America.

Sure we're getting ripped off, but it may not be by those commonly thought of as doing the ripping. Chances are it is the middle East oil producing countries that are running up the futures, some of the same guys funding the so called Muslim extremists (of course they don't admit to those fundings). Their idea of 9/11 disrupting our economy didn't really work out that way so they've found a better way. Buy futures against oil they haven't yet pumped, sell those futures to some dumb schmucks later who think they'll make a killing on them. All before the oil ever leaves the ground. Thus, making a killing on the oil itself when it is pumped, as well as from the prior sale of the futures. So we have cash being sucked out of Western economies like crazy and going into the pockets of those folks who really don't like anyone in the United States or Western Europe and would prefer to see the world under theocratic Islamic rule.

Of course we really have needed to get off the oil binge for decades and think of transportation and electrical power generation much differently than was fine for 1955.

As I told Y'All months ago. We curently have 94 B-52 Stratofortress units standing by, on the ready, around the world. Each unit billets an eight man crew with a fuel capacity of 48,000 gallons of JP-4 jet fuel. 5 units, 40 men and 240,000 gallons of fuel and a week from now, no more young Americans being set home in a box and gasoline in this country will be .50 cents a gallon again. I know your not listening, so when gasoline reaches $6.00 a gallon, I'll remind Y'All again. Personaly, I'm tired of being exploited and we have the means to stop it. And to you bleeding hearts out there, look up the deffination of WAR, then have a talk with a parent that has lost a son or daughter because of this "Liberation". After you do, this won't sound so much like a rant.

Ten years ago when Clinton was President oil was $19 a barrel he didn't want to start drilling iniatives because it would take 10 years before that oil would be available. Guess what , 10 years later and we are paying $135.00 a barrel. The Democratic House and Senate has been in power for 1 1/2 years, they said their first order of busness was to address high gas prices. Guess what, 1 1/2 years of Pelosi andf Dirty Harry and gas prices have gone up over $1.75 a gallon. They've really done a great job. There's enough oil in the Gulf of Mexico and the ANWR to supply 12 Billion barrels of oil, enough to last 60 years, yet environmentalists are stopping the drilling. Great post on blaming Busch. Can you tell us what Obama would do?

Everybody has there own reason as to WHY they think we are getting ripped off. My Reason Has alot to do with our HEAVILY OIL INVESTED administration- But it is only my opinion and I wont push it on anyone untill they push theres upon me.Since 1981 the u.s oil consumption has only increased by 2% yet the price has increase how many percent?- Guys there is no shortage-Rationing isnt being mentioned-Its purely a gouge.Nothing more. Now someone is gonna come on here and say " but china is using so much -blah blah.. Chinas economy is booming ONLY because the U.S people are pumping all there money there. Straighten up the fair trade and thats a good start. And I have always got a Kick out of the people who say " do you really think the president can do anything" and Then next week they say "Hes the most powerful man in the world"... Its gotta be one or the other dont it?....lol

We need to end it alright. We need to be making believers out of some folks with a few real attention getters. Time to stop being a bunch of mealy mouthed wimps and get serious about not allowing ourselves to be tread upon, especially by a bunch of rag head camel jockey's. As the old saying goes; "to the victor, belongs the spoils of war." In this case the spoils of war are oil and an end to Islamic chaos.

It's Canada, followed by Mexico, and in times past both followed by Venezuela. Who we get our oil from has nothing to do with world oil futures prices, all of which are based upon a West Texas Intermediate crude benchmark.

When Bush won in 2000 I said to my girl "watch what happens to gas prices now with an oil man in office". Gas was around 1.30 in January when he took office and now it's topping 4.00.

I'm not into the idea of a war to take oil. We have plenty of food to bargain with. It's alot safer for our kids who are 18 and 19 and just starting out in life.

yea but when the Dems took over Congress--they were gonna cure all our problems with gas price--how much has it gone up since Nancy took over. This discussion never goes anywhere--just pisses people off--everyone has their own opinion as to why gas is so high. Just enjoy it while you can.

I truly believe that the fulcrum for gas price issues is CONGRESS. Solutions exist and have existed for years but were not allowed to be implemented - Cuba is drilling for oil off the coast of Florida, yet we are not allowed to float an oil rig, sink and pump from our own rig in our Gulf of Mexico; we have more petroleum deposits on American soil than much of the Middle East and we choose to protect some purple gilded newt or something. We have more sophisticated technology than all but one nation and have not focused our efforts on avoiding being held hostage by those external to our country as well as those who are not protecting the well being of America who are in our political leadership. LOOK CLOSELY AT THE MANNER IN WHICH DECISIONS ARE BEING MADE - WE MUST PROTECT OURSELVES OR WE WILL CONTINUE TO BE ABUSED - THERE ARE FORMS OF TERRORISM BESIDE PHYSICAL and we are beaten every time we purchase a gallon of gas. That's what I think at least and I have researched this quite a bit. Really tired of having it laid to me by people who don't have to pay for their transportation - we do - screwed again

coupe you need to get some therapy . it's called free enterprise . you know capitalism . bush cant do squat about the price of oil . as long as some mook is willing to buy oil futures at 130 it is going to stay there. the middle east has nothing to do with it either . opec could cut production and thats about the only way they could effect it but it still comes home to roost at wall street. there is a glut of gas right now . demand is down so they are cutting back refining. no place to put it. the only thing that will bring it down is if we continue to cut back on usage. i guess obama can fix it, he'll dem up and raise taxes to give gas to the poor . i was a dem most of my life until i realised they give the vegetables to the ones who dont work the garden. we're paying what most of the world has paid for years so get use to it. it will not change unless supply exceeds demand.

I undersand 85% of American oil can't be drilled because of enviermental activest. I think its time for a few ground moles to learn to live with an oil punp next door! Those same peaple don't have a problem building there house in the woods and then stopping every one from doing the same because it hurts there view. We have been trying to get a circ. hiway around Bulington Vt. for 34 years and a group from ( I think ) Colorado has been doing everything they can to stop it. Thats not right. If we need oil than drill for it. They are the ones sceaming the loudest about Bush and the oil prices. They are as much to blame as enyone.

drill anywhere you like, the price of oil will still be controlled by the mooks in alligator shoes. oil companies are not going to spend billions to drill more oil so they can lower the price of it. clinton told us 10 years ago it was going to be a world economy. well guess what it's here. get rid of all the pork loving people in washington first .then maybe just maybe we can lower taxes to ease the pain.

I remember a few months before Bush's election for his second term a statement OPEC made that struck me odd. I remember this because while watching TV after the statement was made we were talking about it and I remember saying "now gas will go up 50 cents a gallon" boy was I wrong. The statement by OPEC was " If Bush wins re-election Opec will cut production". Some of you may remember this. Well guess what happened? I still don't understand why. The world hates us since Bush is in office, so don't tell me Bush has nothing to do with it. He's not the only reason but he and his closed door meetings are most of the reason. Bend over we have more coming.

The perpouse of a world economy was to bring rest of the world to our standerd of living( at that time) . All it did was to bring us to theres. If we dont do something the mideast countrys are going to take over. We'll be the third world country.

I would love to hear the explanation of this one. You can blame it all on Bush if you want to feel better, but this has been coming for a long time. Other countrys do'nt like the US because of what we stand for. Most Mideast would wipe us out if they could. We went and developed the oil for them a long time ago when they were still thinking the Camel was the only form of transpertation. Don't get me wrong, I don't blame all the people in the region, but some are very radicle. The vidio by BC34 is nothing new. We are going to have to depend on ourselfs for energy in the future so we had better start now.

dave, prices in most of the eu and other places have risen by 20 to 35% in the last year. diesel is well over 6 dollars a gal . it's not just us . many middle east countries do not refine their oil. they buy gas and diesel and pass it along at lower rates to the public. we are going to get stuck paying what the market will bear no matter what we do. there is no fix for this that i can see. i can remember friends going to Europe when we were in the service and freaking out at the price of fuel. thats why they drive iddy biddy cars
