Getting ready to order CE rear suspension kit for my 47 Chevy ragtop--probably tomorrow or next day--any pros or cons on use of rear sway bar. Don't know if I need it or not. Drove the ragtop 500 miles this past weekend..Mechanically---except for rough rear end--it did very well--18 mpg and the A/C took the edge off the heat and made it fairly comfortable to drive--at the rate I keep fixing stuff, someone is going to get a pretty good car.

sway bars are almost always a good idea. we put s/bs on both the front and rear of a customers '47 Merc and he told us he thought he had a different car!! Makes the feel much more solid and gives better control. We sell and like the C/E kits for the ease of installation and quality of the parts

The sway bar gets rid of body roll in corners. Mine rides like it's on rails now. It used to feel like it was going to tip over in corners. Good set up they have.

I think Parallel leaf springs are much more forgiving than coil overs....I don't have a sway bar on the rear and it hasn't been a problem...I do have one on the front...

Our old faithful '33 Sedan delivery has been to rod runs in Oklahoma City NSRA Nats, Columbus Nats, Tampa, Pigeon Forge, York, Daytona, Charlotte, Syracuse, Ocean City, Myrtle Beach, Louisville and all points in between for 72,000 miles = no sway bars. Do have a TCI chassis with 4 coil overs, 8" Ford rear, Custom TCI ifs.
If we lived in the Blue Ridge Mountains= sway bars.

thanks all--just got off the phone with CE and the guys there were not able to tell me if the kit will work o a convertible--due to the X frame configuration at the front spring perch. Was told to call back tomorrow and talk to the experts and find out what needs to be done. They were away at a car show. Talked to RonHotRod and he explained a way to do it. Anyone here put that particular kit in a 41-48 Chevy convertible and have any insight into installation. thanks
