After having 3" of rain fall since midnight, the event for saturday was cancelled at 11:00 AM. I've also heard the friday turnout was much lower then normal. In these times of rapidly escalating gas prices its a real bummer to spend hundreds of dollars for an event that doesn't take place. I believe lower large event attendance will be the norm rather then the exception. I know I'm sticking much closer to home. The only long distance event for me is the Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green, KY. Thankfully the NSRA Nats are about 20 miles from home.

Was there friday and after a slow start the show finally started picking up. The show was down from years past. I was able to meet n2tires, he is a great guy with alot of information in regards to the 47-53 chevy trucks and panels. Lucky for me I was'nt stuck in a hotel while the rain came,I was at home completely surrounded by water, but not flooded THANK GOD. Sunday is going to be a nice day I hope. I just hope the the track will be open, that place will probably be a mess after that much rain.

Sorry I didn't get to meet with anyone--looked but I guess I am blind

We left out of Indy at 9 a.m. and it took 9 hours to make a 4 hour trip--I-70 was close from cloverdale In. to Terre Haute In. took a detour through no mans country. Had a good time on Friday--Wife says never again--Bowling Green next year.

Iguess if we all buy a streetrodding .com T-shirt {maybe 2 or 3 i don,t think you want to wear the same shirt 2 days or 3 days in a row ]we can wear them at these events so we spot one another and meet

Just heard on the evening news that central Indiana has recieved so much rain, Interstate I-65 (the main north - south highway from Indiana to Kentucky) has been shut down due to flooding. Too bad for all attending GG on Sunday even if it stops raining, as almost all the parking at Indy is in grass fields. There is almost no parking on paved sufaces. Rain is not uncommon at GG Indy but this is ridiculous. I feel sorry for all who spent their hard earned money on gas and hotels.

I am so thankful I decided not to go !! The last time I went was about 01 and it was the muddiest show I was ever at-I swore I would never go again. I was over it and ready to go back.. I feel sorry for those who made the trek for nothing.

We were making the trip from cincinnati to Indy this morning (Saturday), and ran into the rain in Greensburg, In. Were one of the last crew through before west bound I-74 was closed. We pulled over in Greensburg because Rain-X and snap in side windows just didn't cut it today. Forgot to bring my life vest and oars. My buddys F100 had more water coming in than my roadster. After two hours of sitting in a Dairy Queen trying to wait it out, we gave up and headed for home......only to find out that the roads in town were all flooded and closed. Finally made it to the highway and headed east. We arrived in cincy about an hour and a half later....no rain. My buddy with the F100 said thatFriday numbers were very low.

Jim, what does the Horses Mouth mean? What don't you understand about 10 inches of rain in 24 hours? What don't you understand when the PA announcer advises the event is shut down? I take offense to being called a liar by you. Whats your problem? Does Senility, Altzheimers cause Senior Citizens to become antagonistic on internet boards?

Gman........very sorry. Did not know you were there. I thought you heard it thru the grapevine.
The grape vine said Nats East was closed because of excessive heat and humidity...we were there for 4 days........it closed at 4 PM Sunday. Here in Washington DC, we heard Hillary was having a affair with Osama...........get my drift ????

Does anyone know if the Sunday event was still held? If so, anyone here go? That was a bummer. We were really looking forward to going just to get the mind out of work mode etc.

I can't imagine getting 10 inches of rain! They probably cancelled everything. We had 8 and a half here once and we floated for the next few days. I was ready to stop building homes and start an Ark!!!!!! I thought I read you were going to get more storms, I hope they were wrong......CR

Just heard on the news Indy is being bombed again this time heavy rain and golf ball sized hail. Can you imagine what that hail would have done to cars at GG. One third of all Indiana counties have been declared a "Disaster Area".

Hey, troups.......just spoke to the "horse's mouth", John Drummond, Publicity Director for Good Guys: "Yes Indy was closed FOR SATURDAY ONLY. Thursday, Friday, and Sunday it was open and great". Rod run was not cancelled.
Spoke to Brian Brennan, Editor of Street Rodder Magazine who was there for Friday, Saturday, Sunday.......ditto.
Nuff said, Jim, long time GG member.

Jim, Why did you have to call John Drummond and Brian Brennan? Did you think I lied to everyone? Why would I do that? Do you check up on every poster? Maybe you've been Kroozin too long.

82 degrees in north Louisiana today. Every body is invited down, over, or up to pass a good time in Cajun country. Skeet

p.s.-supposed to get back in the upper 80's tomorrow - then rain. Just thank God that we have days - hot, warm, cool, cold or perfect to experience and that we are Americans

It could have all ended in the early 60's eith the Cuban missile Crisis - many don't know how close we came to a nuclear holocaust -my cousin was the guy who took the pictures of the missiles set up on Cuba. H was (is) America's best U-2 pilot - proud of him.
