On our way to Missouri a few weeks ago we stopped to stretch our legs in a Kansas antique store. Neat little place. Can you believe I found a pair of NUMERICALLY SEQUENTIAL 1932 license plates??? Hows this for a neat combo?

Now if I only lived in Iowa and owned two deuces... sigh. Might throw 'em on eBay just to see what happens! There's a set of 1932 Utah plates on eBay right now bid up to $480!

Should have grabbed them. Beginning July 1st, in Iowa, you can put the plate matching the year of your rod/car on the vehicle, if you can find one. Bet a few would pay good bucks for a couple of thoose.

In Mich you can use year of car plates. Most old plates don't go for big bucks I bought my 32's for about 20 bucks. Although special plates go for more like Manufacture Plates. and other special ones. Best places to find are antique shops and flea markets Jack

I would start the bidding at $500 or higher.

Hey Roofcam, I DID buy 'em! Maybe I should wait for the first week of July to list 'em on ebay? In Utah you can run YOM (year of manufacture) plates, but like most states you're required to have BOTH plates to register the car with them.

Henry, different states have different values. California, Arizona and Utah have always been pretty pricey. I've noticed a lot of eastern states have almost no market for vintage plates... strange. I paid $175 for my 41 Utah plates that are on my --what else?-- 41 Ford. They're fair condition but cleaned up pretty nice. I had a pair of VERY nice '62 Utah plates on my '62 Buick, $100. Bought a set of '50 plates for my dad 10 years ago for $75, and a pair

Tommy, I don't think I'll start 'em that high. I don't need to get rich off of them and want to get a couple of bids, know what I mean? Still, what a unique find wouldn't you agree?

I found a couple sequential 48 TEXAS TRUCK-TRACTOR plates in Texas last year. One was restoreable, the other was swiss cheese. I got the good one for $10 or 15. My truck was originally titled in TX.

Does anyone know? were they for farm or Over the road semis???

Also in Iowa, but I don't know when it goes in to effect, or the exact details, we will be able to eliminate the front plate and just have a sticker on the windshield. Been trying to find the criteria, but not successful thus far.

Hey roofcam, if you find that article please post it! Utah requires front and rear plates on all cars. One local jack ass cop has been targeting every Corvette he sees and give them a ticket. Who wants to run a front plate on a Vette??? I'd like to see if we could have SAN help us push a similar initiative to Iowa's and have a windshield sticker!

Eric...I'll post it, and/or PM it to you, when I find it. I saw a very brief note about it in a recent magazine. Should be able to run it down.

Any one know how many plates are required in Minnesota ? I have 2 plates from there that were on my car when I purchased it, one from 1941 and the other from 1942. They are both in excellent shape and were probably the last two years the car was registered.

Eric....your eBay add looks good. I've run into a wall trying to find more info on the sticker versus plate issue, searching via the internet. I will be going to my county licensing office in a few days, and I'm guessing that the ladies running that office will be able to enlighten me about it. They are always on top of all the current regulations and those that are in the works.

I'll let the guys in my cruisers group know about your eBay offer. A few of them drive '32s.

FYI....The 22 prefix is the number for Clayton County. Prefix numbers were used in Iowa from 1922 through 1978, to identify the appropriate county for the tags. Clayton County is on the other side of Iowa from me.

Thanks Leo! I looked on the Iowa DMV site and found nothing. Clayton County huh? I love learning about stuff like this, gives the plates so much more meaning!

Thanks for passing the word along to your buddies!

I'm surprised, already got a bid for the opening amount and there's 8 1/2 days still left. So it looks like they're already sold, now lets see how high they go. Anyone wanna take a guess? Think it'll make it to $100?

Leo, I included your blurb about Clayton County, thank you! There are 24 views and 5 people watching, probably people from here.

I tried to also add it to a second category, but by the time I figured out how I had a bid and now can't re-list it. It would have been under collectibles/transportation/license plates/US:IOWA. Dang it, probably would have had more interest if it weren't just listed in ebaymotors. Oh well, live and learn.

Whew, good thing I didn't start 'em at $500. Only 3 1/2 hours left and only one bid. Looks like they're only going for $50.

I found in a Tennesse barn a while back a 1933 original California plate. Think I should put it on ebay. Thing was nailed up in the upper barn loft, stack next to some hay. Fair shape

Eric...I haven't given up on the information for you regarding the no front plate requirement in the works for Iowa. I haven't yet made to my county seat, but will, no later than next week.
