I am in the process of rebuilding the rear brakes and need some help cross referencing a number. I have what I beleive to be an 8" Ford rear end in my sedan. It has drum brakes with shoes that are 1.75" wide. The wheels cylinders have the following numbers on them. Driver side has "FD40E01" and the passenger side has either "F040201 or F540201" stamped on them. When I go to the local parts store and ask to reference them, the first question they ask is "what is it out of"? Heck if I knew that I would just ask for the correct part. Can anybody help cross refernce those numbers? I think it is a mid 70's Mustang but I am not positive.

go to a real parts store and tell them you have an 8 in ford with 1 3/4 shoes. take the shoes and cyclinder with you. i've never ran into anything special about 8 in . most are the same as far as i know.
