Well ive jumped serveral obsticles to get to having the short block done, now ive got head bolts poping threads, helicoiled 2 on the drivers side and now 4 on the pass side have pulled ,, 35,55,75 moly lube on arp with black silcone on threads, never had this problem before. Im going to just helicoil all the darn things if thats not going to be a problem, dont know if it will be an issue or not anyone ever done em all? Im getting tired of replacing head gasket everytime a bolt thread strips getting costly. Parts will be in tomorrow to helicoil all of the head bolts . Please let me know if anyone else has had a problem like this..Thanks

I knew a guy he had this problem on a VW block as you know they are aluminum casting sounds like metal fatigue or just a bad casting

it's things like this that drove me to crate motors . never had head bolt problems. it was always machine work problems . if the threads are damaged it should show up when threading them in by hand. if they are stretched they usually get tight.

had the same problems on a older 350 rebuild. Kept stripping head bolt threads. Didn't have much luck with helicoils. They did hold for a while. Finally got another block, no more problems....CR

The threads in the block are suffering from a huge case of metal fatigue. Happens to old cast iron all the time.

Not really wanting to be the bearer of bad tidings, don't be surprised if the helicoils begin failing after a few short trips. Shine is right, the best solution is a new crate engine unless you get lucky and find a genuine GM rebuild for a real decent price.

Lose that block!!!!!!!!! If you have chased the threads and still have problems, then you will regret using the block in the long run. I assume you are building SB chevy by picture but either way, new or remaned short blocks are available for budget $$$$. They are the most cost effective even over DIY. Guarantee, quality control etc. This is my experence.
