We are fine, the house is a bit crunched but it didn't go through the roof. Sounded like a huge BANG! I was glad it is an old house with strong roof structure. Now we just have to figure out how to remove that tree.....:-)

Sure am glad to hear that Y'All are O.K. and the house was not to severely damaged. Now, Tammy, Do you believe in signs?? This ones tellin you to go buy a new wood stove. Right after the new chain saw. And the new wood chipper.
like already said- good news is noone was hurt. But remove it????? I would think it would be a good selling point to prove how strong your roof is if you ever decided to sell your home---- (at least that would be the excuse I would use to the other half to try to get out of cutting it up)
Tammy, glad everyone is ok, normally your house insurance will pay to remove the tree from your structure. They won't take it off the property but will take it down off the house.
Good luck.
Still driving the wife's car, cause I am slow.

Thank you so much guys for all the good wishes. Black Sheep you crack me up!!! Monday the tree services will all be getting phone calls so I can compare services. Actually we do have a wood burning stove in the kitchen and I may just save some of this for next winter. Our neighbor brought over his chain saw but I will need a professional to get it off the house since it is stretched over the fence and could do more damage falling off the roof. Here are a few more pictures I took this morning.

glad everyone is a ok everything else ca be replaced ,we are getting prepared for our hurricane season ,we dodged last 3 direct hits back to back in one year , last year was queit ,Tornados do not give warning they come from no where we have at least 4 days warning tornados this year are monsters an appearing in places that normaly dont deal with tornados like colorado ?
Tammy, good to know you're all safe! Can you talk the insurance company into extending that porch about 50 feet and building a killer shop for you and the family? Its only money, you know, and I'm sure they have plenty!
Eric I would love a new shop....but right now I need 1 more bedroom! Not sure how long my 10 year old son will want to share a room with his 9 year old sister....:-( Insurance has been really great about everything. I have Pekin and they came right out, said we will fix it and after a little bit on the nightly news I was even able to convince the township office to take the tree away. It was located in what I consider the easement but they said "It wasn't planted by us!" No kidding? I think Silver Maples plant themselves folks. LOL
