with the cost of fuel i am actually spending less per month. i have cut an easy 300 miles of driving. if those storage tanks get topped off you will see it go down. yes you have to buy gas but most of us do a lot of bs running around.

I have combined my trips so I can drive my fun car more often. I don't know if it has saved me anything but it will make my daily car last longer.

I started combining my trips last fall. We were running to the city twice on weekends for stuff. Set new policy to make one trip and only if what was wanted was actually needed. If not we stayed local. That really helped to cut gas consumption. Still have to go to work (100 miles round trip daily) to pay the bills. But the wife and I car pool, and when she works at home, I usually try to take the day off so no car has to make the trip. Have also cut my old car warm up and idling time to help save a bit. Trying, but still losing this game.

I TOO, HAVE CUT WAY BACK ON MY FUEL CONSUMPTION. I'VE ALWAYS ENJOYED DRIVING TO DIFFERENT SCRAP YARDS TO DO MY PARTS SHOPPING, BUT NOW DO MOST OF IT BY PHONE. THAT SAVES TIME , ALONG WITH THE FUEL, BUT I STILL MISS THE BROWESING PART. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL FIND ON A TRIP THROUGH ONE OF THOSE YARDS.

BEING RETIRED AND ON A FIXED INCOME, WILL TAKE AWAY SOME OF OUR PLANNED TRIPS TO VARIOUS CAR SHOWS AND VISITS TO OUT OF STATE RELATIVES. BUT, LIKE ALL OTHER COMODITIES, OIL PRICES WILL EVENTUALLY COME DOWN, ONLY THING IS, HOW MUCH ?

yep doing my part. The Driver gets about 30 mpg. (over 30 if i can find 100% gasoline instead of the ethanol crap.) The 46 can get 20+ if i keep my foot out of it Every day i'm passed (rolling 60-65) by one person occupied large SUV's at a high rate of speed. So yeah, i guess i'm doing my part. Someone needs to kick Tom Klotz square in the chongs.

In the past, I never gave it a thought...just pumped in the car a took off any time I felt like it. Now I ask myself if it's really necessary to go somewhere so I end up staying home a lot. I also cancelled going to 2 southern ca.shows that I usually do.

Two years ago I gave up my office and the 80 mile round trip that went with it and started working out of my house and my wife retired which eliminated her commute altogether. I still have to drive to visit clients, but without the daily commute my gas bill went from just around $400 a month to about $200 a month. That was two years ago. Still doin the same amount of drivin to clients, but last month's gas bill was back up to over $425. ARGH!

I got rid of my truck (15 mpg) and bought a Hyundai (35 mpg).... gas savings pays the payments on the new Hyundai and I have a 10 yr 100,000 mile warranty.... can't beat that....

I started to carpool with Scoutmaster a few years ago. Back then when gas was cheap (LOL) we decided that we could make a carpool work. Glad we get along since our comute is over 80 miles a day. Nice thing is we are both car nuts so it makes the commute easy! The one thing we have decided was, that we are not going to let our hotrods rot away. We built them to drive and that's what we are going to do!

there was a statement made that for every penny that the price of gas increases its a billion dollars in profit , so i guess we will just have to keep bending over for the greed mongers.

Today from the head of Fidelity Magellan:

"There are trends stoking that demand that are not going to go away any time soon. For example, in the Chinese city of Beijing, over 1,000 cars a day are being registered, all of which will add to the demand for gasoline," he said.

"Those drivers have not experienced gas prices at significantly lower levels, as many of us have in the United States, so I think they'll be less likely to rein in their spending even if gasoline prices move higher," Lange added.

This all points to high gas prices staying with us.

So..........

When you have to drive......

Drive a Hot Rod!

I always call ahead to see if the store has what I'm looking for and then combine as many trips into one as I can. 93 hit $4.62 yesterday.

Has anybody noticed after word leaked out that an investigation into oil companies started in December 2007 (something oil compaines didn't know about) a barrel of oil fell by over $4. 00 today? I wonder why?

We should have done something like this in the 70's. No political BS, but we need to be MUCH more self sufficient. Maybe this is one of many ways. Check it out and make up your own mind. I want my grandkids to know the fun of driving a gas powered hot rod!
