Hi all , It's me again,

This time I am trying to nail down the rear end and brake identification. I have experienced a rear brake explosion for lack of a better term. We have determined by some people on the know that the Rear end is from a 57 Chevy (357 gears). The question is confirming the Brakes and on the drum is this part # GM 3634775-13 stamped on the drum. Does this mean anything to anyone? As always thanks for all of your responses on prior questions. Tom

I'm not sure about '57, but GM usually stamps an ID number on the axle housing, that could answer your question. Look on the front face of the right axle tube for any kind of stamped numbers ( you may have to lightly sand that area to find it ). Then, talk to your local GM parts department with those numbers in hand.

Tom, try this website for GM rear end parts, info, etc. There is also a phone number on the bottom of the site. Dunno how good they are as I never called them, got my required info from their site.

brakes are not hard to match. they go by size mostly. take a shoe to a real parts store and match it up. forget autozone .
