Hot Time in the Heartland Cruise Update

Originally we planned this to be a show and for it to be held at the Route 66 hotel. Well things were not progressing as we had hoped so we had to make some changes. The event is now a cruise and it will be based at the Hilton Hotel in Springfield. It is open to all Pre-72 and specialty vehicles and will be more of a cruising event than a one location stop the only fees will be your meals, hotel, gas and a small cruise-in fee when we are in Lincoln on Saturday.. We are currently working on Thursday night (July 3rd and Friday day plans but our confirmed plans so far start at 6:00 Friday July 4th when we meet at the Hilton and proceed to the roof of the parking ramp. The ramp will be reserved for StreetRodding.com and those staying at the Hilton (we have special room rates and a block of rooms reserved) will get 1st choice for the top floor. We will remain at the top to watch the evening fireworks held in downtown Springfield. If we are rained out we will move inside the building to a meeting room where we will watch some old time racing video and chat about our vehicles or whatever is on our minds. Pretty much the type of conversation you might find at a cruise. We will also arrange for some question and answer sessions about the StreetRodding.com web site. Saturday July 5th we will be meeting at the Hilton to head out for breakfast and a visit to Shea's Route 66 Historic Museum. Locals may wish to skip this part of the tour but we will depart from Shea's and head out Peoria Road to Lincoln, IL. In Lincoln we will be special guests at their annual cruise in event. We will receive goodie bags and have a chance to check out the downtown and all the local entrants. Upon conclusion of the event in Lincoln we will return to Sherman, IL to attend a dinner cruise in at Ray's Route 66 Diner. The folks at Rays are sponsoring this with the help from the Route 97 Cruisers. At this point our Saturday event will wind down but I am looking into another stop before calling it a night. Mind you we are going to be downtown and it is active in the summer at night. StreetRodding.com will have a few give away items, goodie bags for the first 200 cars and opportunities to put in your suggestions for next year.
