Are the steering shafts moving freely and not binding up?

F.Y.I. I had a strange feel with a Must II in my 39 Chevy sedan. Felt like a bind? Couldn't find it. Problem was the outer tie rod was touch the front sway bar, but whenever I jacked up the car (no lift) the suspension would "hang" and everthing seemed to clear. The car was toooo looow to see under when on the pavement. Took a while to pinpoint. I was sure it was the steering joints....it wasn't. Good luck. PS I have also had a reman rack with a bind, right out of the box!
Check for excessive U-joint angles and if possible see if you can put the car on a drive-on front end lift and look to see whats going on an ride height. A front end rack should have wheel pivots so the tires don't scrub the lift. I missed a problem on my 56 Ford on a regular lift. The previous owner swapped the tie rod assemblies end to end and created an interference under compression while turning.
thanks guys .......i have some free time sunday morning and will try to point the problem. my friend said i might have a bad rack.........there is play on the steering wheel but is coming from the rack shaft area
thank you for looking ( joe's toys )
