Original 390? They do make additives for the lack of lead in the fuel but not sure how well it works. Has it been driven much in the past 20 years?

What will determine if you need a lead additive is if your engine has hardened valve seats or not. The original valve seats were very soft, and the lead in the fuel created a cushion. If the motor has been rebuilt you can probably expect to find hardened valve seats in it. If it's completely original you should hit your local parts store for a little bit of lead additive.

You may or may not be able to hear what you think is a noisy valvetrain. If you can hear it, try the additive. Adding it certainly wouldn't hurt anything.
