Dick Loehr, funny car driver in the late 60s and then P/S in early 70s, passed away early Tuesday morning of prostate cancer.

He was a local guy that I used to watch in the late 60's had a car dealership with"creative ads"

Sorry to here that! We shared the same local tracks a time or two. I in my little stocker....he in his Flopper! He was a real winner! A consistant & feared competitor!

Bigdude, yeah, I raced my U/S Valiant there once & trophied. Went to watch there a lot. My home track was Onandaga Dragway back in 68-70. Also raced at Tri-City a couple times & trophied in my class. My buddy had a 63 dodge he raced at Martin once & found himself faced off with Dave Boertman in M/S. Outcome was predictable! HAHAHA I used to tag along with some guys from O'Shaughnessy Chryler/Plymouth (remember the "Shamrock" SS/A?)who raced there all the time. They had a 62 C/SA Plym. too!

Yup -I ran ss/e for awhile-j/ps (had record) k/s-I ran SS/E until the 68 CJ came out and shattered the record and I couldnt compete w/o cheating---more!

No disrespect intended but doesn't prostrate cancer come from trying to get a grip on that seat during those runs.... we are at that age where we will see more and more names pass on to that big strip in the sky....I'm sure Wally Parks is organizing everything
