What's the best way to remove bushings from factory upper & lower control arms? Is there a way? I'm rebuilding the 73 GM-A car subframe on my 50pickup and want to re-use the stamped A-arms instead of paying $7-900 for tubular ones. If I could even find em for this application.

I don't have a bushing press so I think I'll just take them to my local shop.

I got 2" drop spindles & QA-1 adjustable coilovers, all new Moog joints, links & bushings ready to go in.

If you have a torch you can burn the rubber out then a hammer and good drift will remove the sleeve, but you still will have to have someone press in the new ones so may as well take arms to a parts house with press or a machine shop.

Air chisel. In the wrong hands it can be the Most Dangerous tool in the box. hehehehehe Used to know a mechanic who use one to remove a head from an aluminum block engine. Damn expensive lesson.

Update: Turns out now my 73 suspension...IS NOT '73 as I was told! None of the 73 parts fit or matched what I have! Bushings & steering linkage, etc. have to be 78-88 Malibu/Cutlass to fit. Disc rotor dimensions match a 1978 Malibu only. So is there any way to check part (casting) nos. to prove what it is for sure. I have to send the spindles back to POL and I need to know for sure wether to replace them with 1978 only or 1979-88 models. There is a difference! My local parts/repair shop (Sharps Automotive) has been very helpful in matching up with what I have and installing the bushings! They do a lot of work on streetrods & racers.

I have a 1 1/8" stab rod which I read was new for 78.

Can anyone shed more light on my situation? Part nos. for example?
