I've been busy for the past couple months working on a new look for StreetRodding.com, nothing too radical, I'm just trying to refine the look and make it simpler to use. I'd love to get your feedback but please keep in mind that a lot of links don't work yet so if you find something that's not right, it's just because I haven't gotten to it yet :)

The new site is located at http://streetRodding.mobi.

so you don't have to wonder what is working and what isn't here's a quick rundown of some of the stuff to check out:

  • myAccount - let's you manage all aspects of your account including ads, readers rides et al
  • StreetRods For Sale - this is the main page for browsing the newest cars listed
  • Classifieds Search - the new search tools let you find a particular car quickly and easily
  • Readers Rides - this page shows you the newest Readers Rides pictures added to the site
  • Readers Rides search - the new search tools let you find users by username or you could just browse all the rides by state
  • Discussion Forums - browse the newest forum topics
  • Advanced Search - the search section let's you find anything you're looking for while the section headers across the top will let you browse the newest items listed.

We hope you guys like the new look and keep in mind a lot of work still needs to be done but we wanted to give you a preview of the changes we're making in response to our marketing survey and feedback we're getting from our members

I agree with ol bear. It needs more contrast to it but other than that it looks great!

I'll add my wish for a bit more contrast... I'm not color blind, but the orange is hard to read.. JMHO

I agree with Reneg8d, I too think the orange is hard to read. My old peepers need a little more contrast.

I'll add my 2c worth as well. The site looks great except for the orange. It's a bit hard to read with old eyes. A thumbnail view on the "Search StreetRods For Sale" would also be helpful. Keep up the good work.

I'm with the comments above. Easy to navigate, like the cars for sale on the left with thumbnails, orange a little tough on these old eyes, definitely like more 'white space' on the pages.

I have to agree with the orange print--how about a spell checker for us that are down south and obviously affected by the warm climate?

Ok, I darkened the orange, does it look better now?

Also, just so you guys know, you're more than welcome to use the beta version as much as you want, it contains the same stuff that the current version does. I've found that the forums and the account management are much simpler to use, also when i'm trying to locate an ad for someone I've found myself using the search tools on the beta site.

WHEN DOING A CLASSIFIEDS SEARCH ,I PREFER THE PICS TO COME UP TO,, NOT JUST THE LISTINGS ,,,A PIC MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD AS FAR AS IF IM GOING TO LOOK AT THE AD.. OL BEAR ,,

Everything looks fine so far, but I have a personal opinion on websites in general. I HATE WHITE backgrounds and find them very hard on my eyes, especially with the newer, brighter, and more contrasty flat panel screens. I would like the site much better with a black or midtone background, anything but white. ?? Anybody else with the same opinion, or am I alone ????

Eriq,

I like the new design layout -- nice. I agree with what many have said here, the orange on white background is not easily readable. Please choose a dark font. Blue, black, something dark.

One other item. I run a 22 inch widescreen monitor, and some of the images are expanded far beyond their original dimensions. Can you constraint the image size to no more than 100%, pls? See http://streetrodding.mobi/index.cfm/f/pics.view/id/381014 Then right-click on the image, select view image for original size. The original pix is 800 pixels wide. On my monitor it is displayed at 1245 pixels wide -- so it is blown up 50% and is fuzzy.

thanks, Ken

GOODMORNING ,, DID U KNOW THAT NOT 1 PERSON OTHER THAN MYSELF HAS A CAR FOR SALE IN THE CLASSIFIEDS!!!! THATS A REGULAR HERE ,,NOW WHEN WE SEARCH FOR A SPECIFIC YEAR CAR ALL WE GET IS A LIST OF CARS FOR SALE WITHOUT THE PICTURE ,,TIME TO LOAD PICS IS NEGLEGIBLE , HELL WERE DOING IT ON THE OLD SITE ,WHY NOT THE NEW ???,MOST PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF LOOK AT THE PIC FIRST TO SEE IF THEY WANT TO VIEW THE DETAILS OF THE CAR ,,,,IM LOOKING FOR A LIL SUPPORT FROM OUR REGULARS ON THIS PLZZZZZZZZZZZ ,, RESPECTFULLY OL BEAR ,,,,,,,

i have one request. in builders corner if you click on a pic all of the others have to load in the side bar first. this takes way too long for folks on dial up. i see no reason for them. they are already loaded on the project page.

My only comment would be that when looking up the classifieds, you can only put the year and make, no model. If I put 1934 Ford, I get everything. coupes, sedans, pickups. Any way to give the option of model? Looks good otherwise.

Good moring, E. When I get a chat room thread, it would help if I could click on your logo and go straight to that topic.

Otherwise, you do good.
