Like a dumba$$, I lost my door popper and I only had one. I have looked everywhere 4 times. Even asked da wife, who as you know, are damn good at finding misplaced items. Well, it is gone.

So, how can I get a replacement remote opener? Thanks to Jim Mothershead, I found the receiver screwed to the forward face of the trunk bulkhead. So, I cannot even see what I am doing, can only work by feel. The working space is very crowded -- only room for one hand. :( Crimeny! Jim said get the identifying info off the receiver and I would have the info to get a replacement.

Here are pics of the receiver. Can anyone identify the manufacturer? It was made in 2002 -- that's the build year start. The initials FC -- is that the manufacturer initials?

How can I get a replacement remote, or failing that, get remotes and a new receiver, as a set, that will plug into my existing installation?

Last photo shows the tight spaces -- the receiver is mounted with 3 relays above the amp opening and has that fiberboard speaker box right in the way.

many thanks, Ken

Why don't you ask the builder of the car? He should be able to tell you who made it. Hopefully it's not ChiCom.

Jim,

No luck so far. I called the builder a couple of times. No answer, so I left a message 2 days ago. No return call.

I did some more research on the web. I looked at my own pics and saw IEI on the printed circuit board. I googled and found a IEI company that did electronics. I emailed their Mid Atlantic sales rep. He said I had the wrong IEI company, but the one I was after was bought out by the Chamberlain Group (the garage door opener people). So I emailed them (no phone number to call) 5 or 6 days ago, and no answer from them. I emailed them again tonite with a link to my pictures of the receiver, but I am doubtful they will respond. Maybe I can plead for help with one of their VPs or so, if I can find one. So, a fair amount of work and no results so far.

I haven't sent to C2C but I guess I should. I kinda doubt they can help me, but I am running out of options here. Thanks to everyone for their help.

regards, Ken

this may be an "Autoloc" brand . this is the company website, http://www.thehoffmangroup.com/autoloc . You can also google "Autoloc" and get information such as universal replacement remotes etc.

Looking for information on mine. If I install another sending unit can I still use the same poppers and wiring?

I hit a dead end on a replacement remote today. Chamberlain Group finally replied to my email. They said my remote opening system was dropped before they acquired IEI. So, I will be getting a replacement system. Oh, what fun to put that in! Oh, well, live and learn not to lose things! So, I have the same question as TyChooChoo above. What new system can I use replacing the remote and receiver and hopefully use as much as the exisiting door opening system? My remote only controlled the 2 doors, a simple system.

thanks, Ken

Hotronics advertises a universal remote for about $110. It might work your poppers which would be easier and cheaper then replacing the complete system.

Gman, thanks for the tip. I emailed them today. They said I have to have my original remote to teach the new remotes the correct signals to open the doors. So, I'll be needing a new receiver and remotes. Thanks for help. regards, Ken

Ken, hopefully the universal remote mentioned above is your solution. Otherwise I'd call Autolok. You won't need to replace actuators or wiring. Probably the only thing you'd have to replace is the receiver and maybe you might have to use their relays. With any luck their receiver might be wired common to your old one. You'd have to follow their schematics but I don't think it would be any big deal. I've got problems with my remote systems on my 37, so I'll be tearing things apart soon.
btw, any ETA on the new car?

Brady,

Thanks, I will look into Autolok. I think this job is above my skill level. Access is the biggest problem I believe.

ETA on the Oze is 2 weeks from tomorrow or Thurs (pick-up). Seems like a long time. I am busy showing and trying to sell my 39 in the meantime.

best, Ken

you only need to replace the receiver. it just powers up a relay. everything else should work fine.

Jim,

if the Oze doesn't have 2 of everything, I will go buy another whatever!

Shine, thanks for the info. Was hoping that is the case, and it is.

To follow up and close out this matter, I put a new Dakota Digital receiver in the car and it works great. I bought it -- a nice new unit from Rod (Prostreet37) that he had hanging around. Thanks Rod. Certainly nice to have the remote opener pop the door again. And I have 2 remotes now!

Installing it was difficult for me as the original wiring was on the trunk bulkhead facing forward -- completely out of sight. Had to take pictures of the wiring to see what the hell was in there. I unhooked the amplifier to get access to the area. Was lucky enough to get it wired correctly the first time, and that was a pleasant surprise for me.

Many thanks to all who helped me out on this one! regards, Ken
