A neighbor pulled this old truck out of a field a few years ago. I had talked to him about buying it a few times but his price was always a little on the high side. Well it seems after 25 years of marriage he's fallen in love all over again, just not with his wife so she's selling all his stuff.

Victoria and I drove by Saturday, saw a yard sale sign and stopped looking for a dresser. The wife walked straight toward us and said "Get it out of here today and it's yours for...". I can't really tell you how cheap I got it for, but you would have bought it too!

So now Victoria has a 5-window pick 'em up, which she's been wanting for about a year now. She has it pretty well planned out too, gonna stay rusty brown, Camaro (or similar) front clip, SBC, TH350, Camaro rear end, etc. She wants it really low and really loud. Interior will consist of an Indian blanket and a looooong shifter.

She's really excited about it, but says my A-bone has to be on the road first! Okay with me, but anyone near So. Utah have a good running old Camaro or Firebird I can use to build the pickup?

I'm going to do this one on the extreme cheap, but won't sacrifice safety or reliability!

By the way, the bed had three front fenders, two hoods, two doors, three grills, a radiator, two core supports, and several inner fender panels. Too bad there wasn't a front bumper and a bag of $100 bills!

Anyone know what the radio on the seat is from? I just noticed it in the picture, didn't even see it sitting on the seat. Could that be a Corvette AM radio???

put a bed cover on it first, then you can tell that's her new dresser till' the trucks driveable. if it doesn't get you killed, it will give you more time to work in the garage instead of out furniture shopping!!

Victoria sounds like a trophy wife! I like her style and attitude. Can't get my wife to go for the patina look.

Ha ha ha Steve, she's so great she'd probably laugh and use it for a dresser! Maybe we could stand it up on one end and weld a few shelves in it!

No kiddin' Don! I think I dun good!

Hey Ol Bear, Dave's not here man.

Yep Tom, she's a real catch! Been waiting all my life for her and now I'm not letting her go! She said that the only way she wants it painted is if it's gonna be flat black but she likes the patina!

Since I'm thinking of clipping the truck, what year Camaro/Firebird should I be looking for? Wouldn't it be anything from '67 through about '78?

If you want it real low, go with an S-10 or 78 > 85 Cutlass, Monte Carlo, Malibu. |They are a little narrower and you can suck it right down and have tire clearance. The only change you have to make is to shorten the rad about 2" to clear the steering drag link. They also are considerably cheaper than Camaro's .Especially if you can find an elderly owned low mileage 4 door. you can even use the tilt column, 305 and tranny. the rear will work once you grind all the brackets off. On my kids 48 she blew up the stock motor on the way home from a cruise night on a Friday, we clipped it, de-arched the rear springs, put in the 305 and had it back out in 2 weeks. get r done. Victoria will enjoy having her truck out before your A-bone

Good thinking Dave, thanks. Would you believe that 90 minutes ago I was GIVEN a complete early 70's Camaro front clip by a fellow rodder??? Still have wheels and tires on it, disc brakes, EVERYTHING! Bob Hamilton from www.streetrod101.net is such a great guy!!!

Okay, now for a motor, tranny, rear end and steering column! If I get more donations I'll have... I mean Victoria will have... the world's least expensive pick 'em up!

LMAO, just scored another freebie, a TH350 in excellent shape! Man this is FUN!

Anyone know what the radio laying on the seat in the first set of photos is from? Would like to get some of these extras on eBay.
