You know, I love John Force! Him and I could be real good friends. Yesterday I heard them say that he was getting the clutch too hot by doing a extended burnout, thus not hooking up when it applied and going up in smoke. Final round against his daughter--big burnout! I looked at the wife and said"good Lord! he's throwing it away" Sure enough--up in smoke at the hit! This multi car thing is pretty lame to me. I dont know if it was intentional-but it sure seemed that way at the interview at the far end to me! He didnt seem real happy for Ashley to me-what about you guys?

Maybe,........your right. But think about it. It doesn't really make any difference. Now tell me that given the same circumstances with your daughter, the results wouldn't have been the same. After all, this is a guarranteed opportunity for her to get her first Wally. Not to mention, it help pad her point lead as well. I don't like it either, but the final out come was in the best interest of the team. It's business and John worked it for all it was worth. Look how much prime time air he garnered for his sponsors. It's the John Force Show.

Lightning speed, smoke, noise, violence and nitro in the air. The fans paid to see a show, got a show and left there with the feel good story.

I love John Force...I don't love the business of drag racing but I know it is a necessary evil that comes with the need for sponsors etc. I don't like John's wife. I always tell the TV he should have married me, I would have been more supportive and much nicer to him. I am sure she has been through plenty having him as a husband but it is hard to be as successful as he has been in the drag racing business without having to make adjustments. I think they need to give some more credit to John's biggest reason for winning- Austin Coil and his crew.

Gotta say, I'm with Blacksheep. I'd let my daughter win too.

I think we're seeing the early stages of commercialism killing drag racing. I'm not saying that it's not commercial now, but Bigdude's onto something... if you can get multiple cars into the final rounds you get to pick the winner from your own team. This is very much what NASCAR has been going through for years isn't it?

Yes, I would have let my daughter win too. If John Force was like all the other racers at the track no one would pay any attention to him. He has definately has left one big impression on drag racing! You either love the guy or you hate him. I think he's a remarkable person. All the things that he has accomplished , not counting the things he has done for kids. People will remember his name for many years to come........CR

I'm a big Force family fan too. I was a litle disapointed he didn't give her a better race. "You wanna win, you gotta beat the best" He said. I thought maybe he'd just let her get a better reaction time, & try to chase her down, but still letting her win. I LOVE that she got a win and know it is great marketing for the team & NHRA. John has always done those long burnouts, often past mid track. I thought he was doing shorter ones yesterday, trying to save his equipment. It was nice to see good times & close races in both lanes for a change! The Vegas track sucked! Or was it Houston?

How about Antron Brown's quick transition from PS bike to TF? Unbelievable!

I've always been a big fan of Gary Densham. Really really great guy, but I don't know if he's even in the points anymore. Haven't been following NHRA much over the last few years.

I think it'd be great if Ashley Force wins... last time a woman won TF was Shirley Muldowney, wasn't it? Angelle Savoie won lots of bike stuff!

It came out like his wife wanted it to. Ashleys' first Wally, and she said John can get his record setting 1,000 next weekend on his birthday. Wonder what Austin Coil had to say?

Hmmm?

If John wins next week....the fix is on! So what if he wins 1000 rounds? He's already so far ahead of everyone else !!! That's all they talked about. I'm just glad he's back from his terrible injuries! He did have a strange reaction when it was all over, like...what was I thinkin?

Ashley deserve the win regardless, she drove hard all day.

Got wife tickets(birthday present) for Gateway O'Reilly Nationals this upcoming weekend. First time either one of us has gone to a pro event--She wants to get John Force's autograph and that would make for a great weekend. Just hope it doesn't rain.

Ken if your wife gets John's autograph take a picture to post on the site. I have considered going to Gateway but I figured I would never get close enough to John and they are talking rain again. Today it hailed and rained and is darn cold!!!

Ken,....Whatever else you and your wife do, make for sure that you both go down on the big end and watch a top fueler or funny go thru the traps at 300 plus. I promise you, your eyes will see it, but your mind won't believe it.

P.S. IMPORTANT!!! Take ear protection if you can! It will make the show a lot more enjoyable. Also, expect your clothes to smell like gunpowder (Nitro) on the way home.

Enjoy..............

After watching john Force for the last two plus decades, I don't believe he would throw the race on purpose. I know these days it is all business but that guy has competitive spirit that won't quit. His attitude and stage presence has helped promote the sport for quite a while. But.....you just have to agree, that was one of the best days of racing i have seen in a long time. Both lanes stayed equal all day. There were more close races and holeshot wins than i can remember. i hope St. Louis has a great show as well. just love this stuff, especially when it is too cold to go outside.

I'M WITH U TAMMY DON'T THINK FORCE GIVES COIL & THE CREW ENOUGH CREDIT WHEN HE'S DOING ALL THAT TALKING. I THINK IF COIL EVER LEAVES JOHN IS IN TROUBLE FOR THAT MUCH THE WHOLE TEAM, JUST MY 2 CENTS.

Ever notice that when he is beat and they interview the winner at the other end he sticks his head in and winds up the mouth. Let the winner have his moment in the sun.

it was on tv and force asked one of his crewmembers it they thought the track could handle the clutch he said he had planned to hit it hard and that is what he did the track couldn't handle it and he went up in smoke whether or not they had too much power is one of those things that only the crew chief knows for sure. we ran a funny car in the early 70's and they were called altereds smoking the tires and spinning them all the way down the 1/4 was a way of life. sure brings back memories. If it had been me I would have let my daughter leave first too

Hearing all of you talking about letting your daughter win makes me wish I was racing you gentlemen back in my racing days. Most of the guys I raced could not handle the shame of being beaten by a girl. I suppose it would be different with your daughter. I suppose I would let my son or daughter win too but lets not underestimate the abilities of young Ashley, she is beating other guys who aren't related to her. :-)
