Last week I painted a plastic tractor hood and the sanding scratches showed through. This was not high dollar project but I would like to correct it. The paint was flaking off so I sanded down to bare surface primed with sandable primer (gray rattle can from parts store), wet sanded to 600 grit and painted with JD green enamel (JD brand paint). Paint looked good going on but then the sand scratches swelled and show.

To correct the mess do I strip the paint and start over or can this be scuffed, sealed and repainted. My understanding is trapped solvents are the cause and if it was sealed after the primer and before the paint that this could have been avoided.

Thanks, Jim

Wet sanded again with 600 grit on the final pass and repainted with the rattle can shotgun. Sanding swirls are gone. Thanks for the help.
