i have a ford 302 motor with serp belt system my question is this . i have the temp gauge go a little high up in temp . it has a 16 inch electric fan that does blow inwards . new griffin radiator . i changed the temp sender and still goes up to the 220 range . here is where i need help the upper rad hose gets hot right along with upper rad tank but the lower hose is cold to the touch and the lower rad tank is also cold . folks this is even after a 15 mile run .car was ok in the early spring though . i put new thermostat in full flow style and a chrome houseing new upper and lower hoses with spring inside over the winter months . rad is full also . any thoughts would be helpful .as you run your hand from the top of rad down to the bottom the lower you get the colder it gets thanks . bob

Some serpentine belt systems require a water pump that runs backward.

I would first do as willys33 said check if you have the right water pump, as he said some serpentine systems the water pump runs backward.

your not circulating water . very possible you have the wrong pump as willys said. if you have the right pump change the thermostat.

guy's all of your idea's are good . the water pump is a reverse rotation pump . it came as a kit from billet specialties . i looked in the radiator like you suggested and i don't see any or much of any flow .the stat is one of those full flow style . i have had plenty of luck with before though . i drove the car about 100 miles already this season with no troubles now all of the sudden . stat was made in china possibly go figure .i will change the stat in the next couple of day's this one is hard to get at . thanks bob

Put the thermost in a pan of water on stove. When water starts to steam is it opening? Boiling it should be fully open ???

Full flow style........never had a problem with a Stant 180* in 51 years.
