Has anyone out there installed Juliano's (or other) 3 point belts in a roadster? I need to put belts into my new ride and want to use 3 point if possible.

I bought belts from Retro Belts and put them in both our Camaro's. I am not thrilled with the position of the belts in my car (the stock mounting location is so far back) but they are much safer than lap belts alone. I would like to find a way to put in air bags of some type. Yogi's Street Rod Accessories carrys Juliano's belts.

Gonna B pretty hard to mount the shoulder strap mount high enuf to do any good!!
Don, That's kind of where I'm at. I'm hoping for an idea someone may have. I'm OK with lap belts, but my bride really likes feeling a little more secure. It's also our first roadster and a totally new experience. Want to get her comfortable before I start spending on the new wheels/tires.
Have you looked into seats with the belts built in. Al has a nice set and the belts are built into the seat backs. If I would have found some like that I would have gone that route. I think his were out of a Sebring or something.

Be very careful about where you mount the belts. If they are in the wrong place and you are in an accident they could do more damage than good (like cut your head off!). Case in point #3.

George, I had 3 point harnesses in my '36 and was not satisfied at all with them. The "across the chest" belt had a faunky angel and it had to mount high behind me - probably worthless as a restraint. I removed them and went back to a set of lap belts and promised myself to drive more saftely.
George, having seen your driving, I would recommend that you install 5 point belts. That way you might be with us longer. You might also want to put them in the 'Vette too. hehehehehe
My 32 roadster has 3 point belts - law. Not retractable though. Look back at the thread on the steel 32 I'm doing, you can see the upper mount points in one of the pix. It's about level with the top of your shoulder, well, my shoulder! Depends on the seat you use.
I'm X38 on any other sites.

Don, are you saying it is better to look good than to ...live? LOL You know I am reminded of a saying "Live fast, die young and leave a pretty corpse" Sometimes it is hard to choose between style and safety.

I had asked the folks @ Juliano's about the 3 point belts, and here's their response.
George,
Bob is out of town for another week (Carlisle show). He may try to e-mail you from the road. We have not attempted to install the three points in a roadster ourselves but I'm sure some of our customers have. Basically, you need to determine if the shoulder mount would be above or below your shoulder as you sit in the car. If it is below your shoulder, I would not recommend it as there would be a downward compression on your spine in the event of a collision. If your shoulder is below the door, you may be able to install the shoulder point on the top inside of the support behind the front door. Hope this helps.
