I need help finding the correct rack and pinion. The catalogs all list an 82-88 T-Bird power rack to fit after market MII cross members. Plans are for a GM pump. My first choice is to buy local so a more specific model year application would help.

The one I used is from a 77 or 78 mustang 2,,(power or man.)its the one with mounting holes made on it. It fits 80 to 90% of aftermarket frontends. Thats just what I have found...Travis

Streetrod Engineering made the crossmember 2" wider than normal to fit the custom clip on a 41 Olds. It mounts on the front of the crossmember. I have a core from a 80 mustang on for mock up.

have you tried Streetrod Engineering for a specific recommendation since they built your crossmember. There are a number of dealers selling both front and rear stear p/s units, some are re-mfg others are new units; prices vary. Mine is a front steer from a late seventies' mustang.

Ordered a R&P through the catalog. It is designed to fit aftermarket MII crossmembers. Searched the parts store catalogs but was unsure of what to order local. The one on the way is 82-88 T-Bird and is supposed to handle the GM ps pump without pressure issues.

Thanks for the input. If can I figure out how I'll post pics and a little more about the car.

Depends on who makes the aftermarket MII front end. Some are mounted in front of the crossmember while others are mounted behind it. Most are from late 70s stang II. Anymore info.? What kind of car is it going in? Who made your front end?

With the wider crossmember you will need to use the Rack exctentions, The componets will allow you to use the standard MII rack, These exctentions fit on the inside of the rack and are easy to install, They will move the pivit point of the tie rods to the right location and will prevet the bumpsteer cause by not having the right rack. Some applications require one on one side and some will need one on each side. If you need more info please feel free to let me know, ... Leon
