After driving the car without an interior last summer, I decided to bite the bullet and get it done. Luckily the car came with a molded headliner and back wall. I had to make molds and fiberglass the under dash panels, kick panels, trunk liner, and overhead consol. I have the foam molds mocked up on the door for the arm rest and map pocket. Hope to have it finished in a few weeks.

Thanks!! I'm struggling through this part of the build. I'm not a finish man and obviously fit and finish are imparitive. Don, that book is awesome!!! Caprice and I have read it twice.

She has the headliner in her bug and just finished cutting out the door & 1/4 panels.

Her cut down glass showed up yesterday so that will go in shortly.

The stereo is for looks. I'm too old to be "thumping" around town. LOL!!

I thought I'd share some photo's of how I'm making some cool parts.

The urethane foam I'm using is scrap from a commercial roof. It has a tar paper like stuff bonded to both sides. I use a elect knife to cut the initial shapes and to "fillet" the tar paper off. The foam sands like butter with 80 grit.

This pass side map pocket only took 10 minutes to cut and shape.

I took my 1.5 oz fiberglass mat and peeled it in half. The thinner mat will roll over the outside corners without wrinkling.

The A pillar covers posed a problem as the outside radius were too tight for the mat. Also I wanted to wrap the three sides and a small amount of the fourth side. The glass tried to unwrap so I rolled it up in waxed craft paper tight. WOW!!! It looks like it was in a vacuume mold.

What you see in the these two posts were done in three hours.

Looking good, Ron. Is that plywood that you're using for the door panels? 1/4"? I want to re-do my interior, and find a lot of good ideas from you guys/gals on the site.

It's a underlayment called Lou-on (spelled something like Lyuon). It's a three ply 1/8".

You should look at www.project33.com Scooter documented his complete build and built everything with basic tools. This is where I got the foam idea.

Hey Ron--- It's Luan and it's actually used for household door skins.

Available at any Home depot, lowes or good lumber supply house.

Things are starting to come together.

I got the armrest and map pockets padded and upholstered at the begining of the week and figured out how I was going to mount the door handle and get the cable hooked up. The foam I'm using is Landau (sp) top foam (like on Cadillacs). It's firm enough to sand yet pliable enough to roll over an outside corner like the armrests. I found the vinyl at a fabric store. It's so cool!! It looks like leather, is stretchy like a ATV seat, and has low gloss.

The armrests and the door handle will be mounted to the door and the panel will slide into the "pull" cavity in the arm rest. Velcro will hold the bottom in place.
