Hmmm sounds interesting but wouldn't that be a kit car? I love old VW's and if it were me, I would make it a hot rod bug!!!

I DID SEE A BUG WITH THE ROOF CUT OFF & FENDERS REMOVED A WHILE BACK. LOOKED REALLY GOOD, KIND OF A LOW BUCK HI-BOY! SPEEDWAY OR SOME OTHER VENDOR SELLS A NEAT LOOKING FOUR BAR SETUP FOR FENDERLESS BUGS.

Saw a video on www.thesamba.com about a split window van had a mid mounted small block and was kicking butt on the track. Passing all the sport cars on the stright and hanging with them in the conors. Sure would make a guy feel real bad when his Porche gets it's doors blown off by a VW van!

Kent Fuller used to sell a t-bucket kit designed around the vw engine and transaxle, great looking little cars, light and fast.

Speedway Motors does sell the straight/solid front axle kit to make the conversion to a hiboy look for VW. Often called the SoCal look. They do look pretty cool when chopped. Never saw a convertible done that way but might be pretty cool.
