Hi, new the the forum. Looking for some advice. I some how got suckered into painting my friends motorcycle and side car. Its about 26 pieces total. The bike was maroon (cringe) and the new color he chose was Pearl White (cringe), with blue rally stripes. I laid down a coat of PPG black base, followed by 3 coats of PPG off white base, 2 coats of pearl white, then 2 coats of DCU2021 clear. On the parts that got the stripes I only put one wet coat of clear. We let it set for 24 hours and then tapped off the stripes, scuffed the clear with scotch brite, cleaned then shot 2 coats of PPG pastel blue base. All looked good for about 5-10 minutes then it began to wrinkle. Now I'm at the point where I know I have to sand the stripes smooth but how do I prevent it from wrinkling again? I have flamed many rods using the same method and never had a problem... |
