I'm having a couple of problems with my 94 Chevy pick-up. the truck does't want to start in park or neutral until you move the shifter around. The starter only clicks. Is it the neutral safety switch and where is it?

The 2nd problem is getting the hood open. The cable seems to have streched so it only releases the hood slightly, not enough to pop it open. Ihave tried the 2 man method of holding the hood while the other person works the opener, but no luck. If any one knows a quick method without dismantleing the grille please let me know,

p.s. Cutting the hood off is not an option Ol' Bear!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for any help, C.R.

Neutral safety switch is at the bottom of the steering column, probably dead from old age, easy to replace.

Once the hood is open you can see where the cable attaches, just shorten it up a little, but be careful the cable might be starting to unravel and might need to be replaced.

Neutral start switch may have loosened. Put some goose grease on the latch and then check for adjustment under the dash and at latch.

most times the plastic hood stops or bumpers are worn and doesn't put any pressure on the hood and also look for wear on the latch either part. Don't get stuck breaking the cable.
