What is the gear ratio's of a 700R and a 200R? Which one is better for low end in a 34 Ford Coupe? I was told if I take my 350 Turbo out the 200R would fit right in without cutting the Drive Shaft. If I use the 700R I would have to make the Drive Shaft shorter but by how much?

I have always been told that the 200 has a better gear ratio. I think it is also less horsepower to turn it.

I intend to swap mine out one of these days and I would only use the 200R. I think there was an extensive discussion on this not too long ago, but you were probably chasing the little white ball in FL.

I did a 350 to 2004R swap in my 36 during the Extreme Makeover... all I had to do was turn my tranny mount around and enlarge the holes a little... driveshaft is same length... which is why I used the 200...if you use the 700 the driveshaft will have to change also... I am very happy with the 200... talk to the guys at Phoenix Transmission on this site... they will help you with whatever you need

200-4r was only built for a short time, but a good trans for a mediumed horsepower hotrods, 1st gear - 4th ( 2.74, 1.57, 1.00, 0.67) , The 700R4 is a great trans, I have had alot of these and thy can be built to hold some power, 1st gear -4th (3.06, 1.62, 1.00, 0.70 or 0.73) , Both are good choices. The 200 is a bolt in for your ride though. All of these gear ratio's can be changed, and the transmissions can be built heavy if you need it.

The 700 has a lower first gear than the 200 and seems to be more popular among rodders. May not be as easy to install when swapped for a 350 but overall I think the 700 is a better trans when installed with a big block.

I'm running the 700R4 behind my 454 in my coupe and have yet to have any problems. Then again, i haven't really abused it too much. With the 3.06 first gear ratio in the trans and the 3.90s in the rear, the car launches real well from a dead stop. I kind of like stop signs and red lights now, their fun if you know what i mean.

i like the 200 because i can run lower gears and i've destroyed enough 700's to know better

A 700r4 drive shaft is 3 inches shorter.
