 never pet a burning dog!

Figured I'd share some current pics on my truck project. Exhaust is finished & blended into steps, trans mount is done, bumper brackets are modified to fit Firebird stub, and as of last night it's officially a 'dumptruck', I've got pnuematics done up for tilt bed. Next is some finish frame welding ,front suspension rebuild and paint the frame.

37tin- I should have mentioned that the tilt action is for emergency utility purposes-like in case I need to change a 31 x 18.5 tire without removing a fender. If a longer set comes along for the right price then I'll reconfigure, theses were free.

Tom-probably summer '09, last year's heart surgery ate up a bunch of time and money, but it's all paid off and money well spent.

Rich, great looking truck, i love that idea of the tilt bed for clearance to change a wheel. Good thinking. Also nice to see a real 4 speed too! What color do you have in mind to show off all that workmanship?

I'll just run a small electrical with the tandem accumulation tank set-up that was also priced right

Yep, I know what they do Rich, we are racing a pro street, getting tired of tilting the box by hand, was my guess close on the size??

37tin and Dave-these are only 2.5 bore by 4.000 stroke Parker units mounted approx. 20" forward of the pivots. So far this is run on shop air, but I turned off the compressor with a full tank and ran it up & down again & again and around 50 -60 psi the initial movement is delayed. With the tanks and larger supply lines I think that would be remedied. Most pneumatic devices perform best at 60+ psi. The cylinder position and angle is pretty critical, so it would vary on other applications. Sorry for the long wind

If you're interested, these are Parker 2MA series, mine in particular are # 02.50 BE2MAU14A 4.00 , but you can order larger bores & strokes ( I saw one on ebay with a 50" stroke). I could'nt even guess a price as mine were free.

those are way cool cylinders, My dad built me a side tilt bed for my 1st vehicle which was a little s-10 truck He used air shocks and a lever system- we later made it hydraulic. That was many years ago now but, This is one cool setup.Youre gonna have a very nice ride.
