I have been thinking about selling my 69 nova , v8 s10,and crotchrocket to purchase a tbucket kit. But i have looked at spirit, total performance, and speedway motors kits and i really dont know which one to get .To be honest the spirit looks like the best value, but was wondering what kits other people have ,and what problems come with em...Thanks

Couldn't tell you which one to choose, but just so you know, T-buckets have VERY low resale value. I certainly don't mean to put a damper on your dreams, but if you're in love with T-buckets buy a completed one! You will save SOOO much money! Bad economy plus low resale value of a less-desirable style means you could probably really low-ball an owner and get a screamin' deal!

Don't let anyone steer you away from your dreams, but shop around. If you're dead set on building your own T talk to others who have them. This is a great website to start from!

I might steer you away from building your own for another reason, but will only elaborate if you're interested in hearing it. Good luck no matter what you do, and keep us posted!

While I think a T bucket might be a fun car, I question Why? Eric is correct regarding the resale value. You won't likely get your money out of one and likely you will be tired of it in a few years and want to move up to somethng else. Why not start with something like a Speedwway 27 Track T or a 32 Loboy kit. Still high fun potential with greater flexibility plus added resale value if and when you want to move to something else.

In any case good luck with your build.

I started getting streetrodder magazine when I was about 8 yrs old up untill i was around 18.I bought a 63 nova ss and put in a built 350 that I worked all yr at micky ds to afford, when i realized how expensive the old classics where to build I switched to street machines. Im now 42 Ive got a 671 blower motor almost ready minus machining,i was planning on putting in the nova with the 4spd and make a neat street car,but I was wanting to go back to my first love of old cars with class. The thing about the t bucket is price,I can get a roller for 4000.00 ,then buy parts as i can afford em. Ive got a rail street buggy with 29x15.5 mickey thompson tires on 12" prostar wheels i could use on the bucket..I dont know, Ive sat in one a guy at a car show had but id like to go for a ride or even drive one b4 i sold my stuff only to find out i didnt like it lol..Id love to have a 5 or 3 window 32 ford or similar but i cant spend that much on a car or id end up in a divorce..So budget wise the bucket is about all I could get into. I also thought hey they dont have a heater either so its limited driving like my rail, anyway ill take all the advice on it good or bad and way out the options thanks

A roller for $4000 will probably still soak ya for $10,000 pretty quick. like these guys are saying shop wisely, there are some real bargains out there. just make sure to get someone with experience in the type of car you are looking at to help before you plunk down the bucks.if you have your heart set on a bucket, they are the ultimate e-ticket ride, especially with a blower motor. You can also contact the T-Bucket alliance for info, those guys seem cool. There are quite a few Missouri members here, hopefully someone in your neighbourhood who can help.

I recently acquired a 23 T-Bucket project that has been in storage since '87. It has a mildly modified Corveete 327, that has block/heads polished. along with a polished turbo-350, both by Rick Santos. It also came with 4 Hand formed (on an English wheel), alum fenders, custom hand fabricated billet front end and rear stab. arms combined with a billet Jaguar suspension. an empty Dana 44 polished shell (which I am told, since I don't have the original inside u-clamps, I can't use it), and boxes of parts. Being a senior citizen novice, I asked advice from a world class builder, as to where I should start. His advice was to first to get rid of the glass '23T-bucket body and put a body on that would complement my billet susp and increase its resale value. Since I already own the body, interior, windshield, and gold-plated, wood framed dash, and coach lamps. I am having a struggle as to what to do. Suck it up and spring for new set-up or use the current body, etc . HELP, I am a NOVICE

I would be very careful about buying another body to put on your T frame. Most T frames are narrow with a kick up in the rear, and I don't know of any other style body that would fit.

I know there's a lot of talk about resale value, but you got to decide if you're building with that in mind. Maybe resale value isn't important to you and therefore, build exactly what spins your crank. Everybody told me that Model A's wouldn't bring very much when it came time to sell, but I'm not figuring on selling mine. I'll be buried in this sucker. What ever you decide - have fun with it! This is your hobby not your livelihood.

EXACTLY ROBERT! Guys, build what you want because it's your car and your money. Just know up front that hot rods are a terrible investment, so don't look at them that way!

AZ Cowboy, don't swap bodies unless YOU want to. If you bought the car for what it was you must have liked it. Build what you have.

congrats on your purchase!! It will be a few sleepless nights untill you have in in your garage but I am sure it will be worth it. As far as the wife goes - always remember my motto--- YOU CAN SLEEP IN YOUR CAR BUT YOU CANT DRIVE YOUR HOUSE.....

Well , ive already seen some things i want to change by starring at the pictures night and day lol..The shifter im going to swap for the quarter stick thats in my v8 s10,and the cam is said to be stock,so im thinking of putting in a comp xm-278 ,you can hear it at compcams.com it gives me a woody. Power band is 2000-6200,but then again ive already got a blower and all the parts minus machine work to put in it if I go that route..Im confused i think ill just drive it like it is for now when i finally get it home that is lol..and try to get some fun out of what i bought. But I know me ill be modifying it before to long . Ol bear your bucket is absolutely beautiful , I have alot of pics of tbuckets and yours is #1 as for what i wanted mine to look like..Well enough of starring at the pics of the bucket ,ive got some serious garage cleaning/stacking to do to get my rail and tbucket in at the same time. Not sure its going to happen but im going to try,cya later

Well we got the bucket home despite severe thunderstorms all the way down, storm broke on the way back thank goodness cause the tarp went south after about 8 miles lol. We went for a cruise last night in it ,and i have to admit its not nearly as uncomfortable as i feared. The only thing im going to change is the position of the throttle if possible id like to move it back to the firewall ,just alittle awkward with the elbo resting on the knee but not bad. Its a real blast to drive i love it,I get in it like im getting on the motorcycle im sure its a site to be seen lol.Anyway i am glad you guys told me to look at an already done project. Thanks and have a good one guys
