Why are so many of the "Featured" rods for sale that pop up on the main page already sold months ago????

Goes back to another post I had put on the site about people not taking the ad's off the site when they sell the car. Car ad's should be removed when they hit 120 days. The owners of the cars can put them back on again if the cars are still for sale. This would clean up the site and maybe move more cars.
That is a nice idea, however all ads run for 6 months. I will have Eriq look into ads older than 6 months. Believe me if you remove a bunch of old ads, then I get phone calls for days asking why their ad is gone.
Hard to please everyone. :-)

Would be a nice feature, if they could go in and tag/mark it sold. Maybe it's already there and not being done. I ran into a lot of already sold cars when I was hunting for a rod. It is a bit frustrating.
I understand your point Tami, but I feel if you sell ads for 4 months it would clean up the web site and save members time when looking for cars. I know when I was looking, cars were no longer for sale or sold and still on the site and many times I sent E-mails to owners and never got replys. I have to assume those cars were sold. The key word ASSUME.
well people are supposed to remove their ads when they sell the car, if you think about it, unless we call all 1000 owners every day we have no way of knowing if a car has sold and they just haven't removed it. now we do have in place a system that automatically expires an ad after the ad runs out so this means they've sold the car within the time period of the ad run. oh, and if they aren't going to delete it they probably also aren't going to mark it sold.
As Eriq said a system is in place but if the owner doesn't care then we can't do anything until the ad expires.... the whole ad section is going to get some revisions soon...
Big Al sittin back in paradise.
