Boyd Coddington died this morning - Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 6:30 of unknown causes. The company will release a statement later in the day as I understand it from our local paper. Brilliant builder who is an icon, regardless of personal opinion by some. Please remember his wife and family in your prayers. The hobby has lost a skilled member.

Wow! He's really gone. I care for some of his actions, but as others have said, he did do a lot for this hobby.

I hope he knew the Lord. I will be praying for his family.

Boyd was quite a guy. He did make a mark in our hot rod business. Lots of ideas people saw on his show that probably never got a chance to attend a show in person. Thanks Boyd for spreading the word in your own way.

Well put Blksheep. He did inspire many builders and raised the bar a little higher in the vast world of street rodding. Not always a favorite personality, but still one of God's chidren. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

His accomplishments can be debated for years to come as many liked and disliked his style as well business practices. For me I am saddened when anyone passes on.

In the end I can only hope that he prepared himself to meet the ultimate builder as we all should. Remember we are ALL dying from the time of conception, just some sooner than others..................

I met Boyd in 1995 during a Americruise trip. I can't say that I knew him personally, but my impression of him was very good. He hosted a picnic for us in Gibbons, Nebraska. I introduced myself and got my picture taken with him. Since then his fortunes rose and fell. The American Hot Rod show seemed to show him as a bad boss. I wonder how much of this was simply television. I will remember him as a gracious host who provided us with a wonderful afternoon on that day. I offer his family my sincere condolunces, He was an icon, and an inspiration to many of us. I can't believe he is gone....

I Agree ALF, I ran into Boyd about the same time somewhere around 93- 95 at a dennys during the street rod nats. myself and some other rodding buddys were leaving from breakfast when he was coming in, He spoke- we chit chatted about the show fo a couple minutes- wished each other well and went on. Just like any other average rodder out there.he was friendly and down to earth. I think the show made him out to be different then his real self. Regardless he was a master at what he done and will never be replaced or forgotten. It is was way too early for him to go.

Folks, non of us are perfect, and Boyd was no exception. I am convinced that we all do the best we can, every day with the skills, and abilities we have on that day. Some of us choose to learn, grow, and become better people with every passing day, but we should never judge others. The T.V. show was just that, a T.V. show. He undoubtedly faced his God during his last hours, and I sincerely hope that he passed in peace. Boyd brought a great deal of skill, creativity, and innovation to street rodding, and also inspired many of us. And, he truly was an entrepreneur. Let's remember all the good Boyd brought to our world. God Bless the entire Coddington family, and may he rest in peace.

I met Boyd at Louisville several years ago. We ask him about a radiator company he used. He was very helpful & nice to me that day. Just like any other TRUE Rodder would have been. Folks, we all make mistakes. Bless the family & friends. R.I.P.

Boyd was a superb auto-inovator and real businessman. If he said the check was in the mail, it was a done deal.
