Well it's getting that time of year when it's time to dust off the car for all those cruise-ins, car shows, and swap meets. And guess what? Some of us may be hitting the old ignition switch and cranking and cranking and nothing happens except we get a really foul smelling oder for our effort. Uh, oh forgot to drain the carburetor and gas tank and now have a problem.

Don't let yourself get caught thinking the car sitting in the garage is necessarily going to crank right up after sitting a few months. Today's gasoline goes bad even in the tank in less than six months. Left in carburetor bowls things can get gunked up pretty fast. So before you get caught by the bad fuel bug and have plans for a great weekend ruined, check your fuel related components.

Yeah, fuel stabilizer can help, but it isn't worth a flip after the fact.

I am happy to say.....turned the car off in October...no stablizer, no prep (bad girl) and went out yesterday to move her around....started right up! Maybe my Holley is so big it doesn't notice the gunk- LOL But seriously I never have had any trouble after 6 months- what is different about today's gasoline (don't say ethanol because we have had that for years)
