Hi guys, could anyone tell me where I can purchase a Ford Vin plate for a 36 that I might be buying. Seller has title and numbers stamped on new frame but no VIN plate. I need one in my state to register it. Thanks CK

some states will have a police or sheriff inspect the vehicle , then they do a check for the history if its clean the you get a notorize letter from the inspecting agency stateing that the vehicle is what the title says and that stae will issue you a new plate with the vin #

Interesting, a 1936 Ford never came with a vin plate. As you noted, the number was stamped on the frame. Does the inspection department have correct guidlines to know where to look for the vin? Most people working at the state departments are too young to know and swear that you have to have a vin because that is all they ever knew. Someday soon, you will find people who will also swear that music never was on vinyl and no way was change at a store figured out in your head. Knowing who you may be dealing with, the argument about no vin plate could be useless and the easiest thing is to get a fake one. I have one on my 40 Ford for that same purpose. Good Luck.

Try this site...or look at page 156 in the February Streetscene mag (NSRA monthly), for an assortment of VIN/ID plates. www.award-mart.com They show several styles in the mag, but don't show these on the website, so you may have to call them. In Arizona it's 602-253-1967
