Did the same thing with mine. Had a bit of heartburn about blowing apart an all original car, but the hot rod side of me won out. I sold off the rolling chassis for $1,200 not including the Kelsey wheels (not original to the car). Got another $1,200 for the wheels. Original Model A running gear just doesn't bring much. If that body was selling in California, you could get $6,000 to $8,000 easy!
Like Robert my 30 was an original running car, before rodding it. Model A's make a great rod just keep that in mine when cutting will make it easier. Before cutting 4" out of the top if you can sit in one, 4" is a lot , just my opinion I know no one asked. How much did you cut Robert? Car sits and looks great.
Hey Joe. Mine's not chopped at all. I happen to like the look of the original top, but I also appreciate them with a slice taken out. Only body mods to mine are tubbed rear wheel wells, rear gas filler door, third tail light, 3-piece hood, and some filled seams. It's really a "resto-rod". I did work hard to get the stance just right and keep the wheels and tires inside the fenders.
If you are tall, a 3.5 cut may be more to your liking, other wise if you are 6 ' or under, go ahead and cut it 4". My 34 sedan is cut 4" and I am 6'1" and I have to be in a reclining position to be able to see adequately out of the windshield (8" tall). Still have head clearance sitting up, but can only see my hood from that position.
Regardless of what you decide, just build it to suit yourself and you should be happy with it.
Robert has a very good point. I'm 6'1" and my bucket seats are mounted really low. I still have my seats leaned way back to allow me to have a good view of the driveway (I'd say the road, but its never been on one!). Good thing I like my seats leaned way back or I'd hate having a chop! I also like my legs straight out in front of me so I have lots of leg room.
To give you an idea, to sit comfortably my head is actually more than 12" behind the B-pillar. Thinking about it now, to other drivers it may look like I'm a back seat driver, LOL.
Its and easy decision to cut up a model A, happens every day. luckily there were lots made, so the supply is good. Looks like that body is in great condition, should help that become an easy build. here's some pics, of one i did in the early 80's, 3-1/2" and one i did for my daughter about 5 or 6 years ago, 4".
Still driving the wife's car, cause I am slow.

So Eric, you're a back seat driver too?? Cool!! It was first kind of strange looking out of the rear side window when driving, but if a chopped sedan is what you like, you get used to. Fortunately for me, a reclining position isn't hard to take. Been sitting that way since I first slumped in my desk in high school. All the cool cats and li'l hoodlums sat that way and if you didn't, you were just not cool. lol
