Thanks... a little more about this car... the engine/tranny/rear are from a '90 Lincoln Mark Vii(5.0 HO/AOD), also going to use the rear brakes from the car and shorten the drive shaft... I also have the wheels and tires ready... the rear is getting Silvertown Radials 70 series with WWW, 285/70R15 on 15x10's and the front is getting 215/70R15 on 15x7's... the wheels are chrome smoothies from Rally America... the tires are from Coker...

Yes... with lots of help from a friend... Leadfoot Garage... the frame is all 2x3 tube w/ 3/16" wall... pretty heavy stuff... We did use the front frame horns from a stock model a... easier than trying to make them.... It will also get '32 rear frame horns since I am using a '32 tank...

Us??? At least you're getting stuff done! My car's been painted for 2 1/2 years and the chassis has been done for 18 months. Have hardly touched it since that time.

Hope kruzn sticks to his schedule better than I did. I originally thought I'd be done with mine six months after I got it. Let's see, June 2000 until now... yeah, I still have time!

Thanks... still have alot of work to do, but it will all be worth it in the end... we contemplated boxing the original A frame, but decided it would be less time consuming, and would have a better/stronger frame building it this way... 2x3 tube with 3/16" wall... it was also stretched 4 inches... the front frame horns/radiator support are from a stock frame....

Eric, that's cause you have so many mouths to feed and little ones to attend to....

If you decide you can't finish it, I have some room and would be glad to take it off your hands for a small fee....

Still, that's a nice looking A bone. I like the plans you have for it. Are you gonna carb it or F.I. ? It looks carbed, but a hidden TBI unit would be cool...

It is going to be carb'd... the motor sitting there is just for mockup... the motor is on a stand at the other end of the shop... I think FI would look funky with no hood... TBI wouldn't be too bad, you can usually hide those under the air cleaner...

Some pics of the past couple of weeks work... Here s a rundown...

Cut the floor pan out below the seat so that the bod would drop down over the 'Z'... roughly mocked up the gas tank. I am using a 32 tank with 32 rear frame horns....

also have the new firewall clamped in... cut the hole for the steering column in the firewall... front suspension mocked up... still have to mount the front shocks and steering...

Today I pulled the window regulators out and cleaned them up and shot a little paint on them... did the same for the rear/rear quarter window garnish moldings....

The lines of the car with the body on are very nice with a good meaty look to it don't you think? I really like that look myself.

I love the way this one is coming together... The frame was completed yesterday and is going to be dropped off tomorrow for paint... I have a buddy that is the auto collision instructor at the loca HS... he is going to use to to teach the kids to fit gussets and some of the grinding/dressing of the welds... they will also do any body filler, prep, and primer... then I am going to shoot the paint...

Good stuff, always great to see the sport being spread to the younger generation. I am sure that at least one student will be bitten by the bug. Congratulations on taking the time to help these kids by providing a basis for their lessons. That is a choice that will make a difference in many kids outlooks. Are you going to let them help on the body too?

I just dropped the frame off and he put 2 kids to work on it right away... He is trying his best to get a couple of them converted to hot rods... I'd like to see a couple of them converted from these tuners they are all trying to run... might keep some of them outta trouble also...

We talked a little about the body, we may take it over there for patch panels at some point, but right now the body is pretty good shape, so the holes may get glassed in for a bit... The goal it to have this car the car ready for Hot Rod Power Tour, and right now it looks like it make it... That is the first full week of June... I have also been invited by a friend to go to the StrayKat 500 in Dewey, OK the first weekend in May... not sure about that one right now...

I love this concept of car, I have been trying to find a body and it is not easy. I think that is cool that the Kids are doing your work, thats a great thing you have done. They will never forget your car.

Thank... this car is a long time coming... it is getting close enough to actually drive it, but yet still so far away... The kids in the auto collision class are also working on another friends car... '49 Chevy Fleetline... so they have it, my frame, and they may get to do some work on the body of this Model A... They have also gotten to work on the instructors '59 F100 Truck... He is really trying to get them interested in the old cars...

Thanks guys... we are still on schedule for the most part... I wish we had a little more done on the body... the new firewall went in tonite... still have to tidy up the rear where we made room for the "z" in the frame to stick up under the back seat... and weld in the new quarters....

Don,

Thanks so much for the updates and pictures. It's really cool to watch it all come together bit by bit. What engine and drive train do you have planned? What final color for the body, etc?

I think the final color of the body is going to be Ford maroon, which is the original color of this car... I will be putting a flat clear over it for that suede look... I also used the original Ford green on the motor. The drivetrain was a donation from a 1990 Lincoln Mark VII... 5.0 HO(302), AOD tranny and ford 8.8" rear...
