Please say a prayer for the family of N.H.R.A. top fuel racer Doug Herbert. Saturday morning, Doug's sons, 18 yr. old Jon and 12 yr. old James, were killed in an on road automobile crash. Local news reported that Doug was in Phoenix for a test session and flew home upon hearing this horrifying news. Our hearts and prayers go out to them.

This is the worst thing that can happen to a parent. I will pray for the family. It breaks my heart to hear about the death of children much too young to die.

I am saddened by the tragic news of the untimely death of these two young boys. As a parent there can be no greater pain than to lose a child, bu two is unfathomable. My prayers go to Doug and his family.

I think every parent feels some pain when someone else's child is killed. It's not supposed to happen that way. Will say a prayer in Kentucky for him and the family

Prayers from Iowa, too, and for the others involved in nthe accident. Have a couple of buddies that had to bury their sons at teens and early 20s ages. No parent should have to go through this.

I can’t pray enough for those that love ones that are taken from them whether it is a friend or just someone you know from watching TV. I watch all the NHRA races and they have had their share of triages Eric Medin come to mine. Also the awful crash of John Force had I can get comfort that they do have there faith to go to in these times of need. To sum it up, I agree when we lose our children it is much harder to deal with, so our prays are a way to help them in their time of need. I am so sad to here The Herbert family are grieving there lost of their children. May God be there for their support!

That is the only way you can get thru this is with God's help. We have lost both of our kids, our daughter at 16 and our son at 32. Then my wife has lost her parents in the last 4 yrs, now we are awful close to a divorce. The depression is about to get her, but she thanks that I am her problems, can't get her to go to Dr or any kind of help. She says shes not depressed. After all we been thru and after 40 yrs I would have bet you couldn't have separated us with a bulldozer. Go figure.

Sorry got off track a little.

Gods Graces for the Herbert famialy and friends.

Okey, you hang on and trust in the Lord. After all he is the original author of restoration.

To the Herbert family, like wise, HE too knows what it's like to lose a child. Jesus was in his late 20's to early 30's. I guess that's where the hope lies, HE rose again to give us a shot at life after death, with HIM and to be restored with the ones we lost who belong to HIM also.

I just got an e-mail from Dale Daly,of the Christian Rodders and Racers with details of the Herbert boy's accident. It seems Jon tried to pass in a no passing zone and both were killed instantly by an oncoming car. The young ones always think they are invincable. Don't miss this oppertunity to use this as a teaching tool for your kids and grandkids, and maybe the boy's deaths won't be in vain. Our prayers go out to the Herbert family and also to Okey.

I had no idea of this tragedy. My prayers go out for the parents of these precious children. How does one deal with such a loss of one - let alone two . God please place this family in your hands and protect them this evening.

My heart and my prayers go out to the Herbert family as they deal with the tragic loss of their two sons. It's always curious to me how losses and tragedies in our lives can draw us closer to others, often to people we don't even know. Sure, I like many of you, have seen and heard Doug Herbert interviewed at the NHRA races, and yes, he always seems to be a very kind, and down-to-earth man. But, I certainly don't know him personally. Now I feel as though I do, however. I lost a daughter in 1991, and as some of you have said, it just shouldn't be that way. It's just something that you never quite get over, as a parent. So now, I feel as though I share a kind of kinship with the Herberts, as well as all other parents who have lost children. God Bless Doug and his family, now and forever, for their pain will never go away.

I think that the blog posted by Doug on nhra says a lot about the strength needed to cope with such a loss. http://blogs.nhra.com/nhrablogs.asp?blog=herbert

The prayers go out to the family, especially little 7 yr old Jessie.
