Anyone have a part number for the thermal fan switch (temperature sensor) that screws into the head and controls an electric fan. I would like the fan on at 195 and off at 180. Local auto parts carry this switch and I had the part number but have misplaced it.

I made it to three parts houses yesterday with little sucess. First question was what does it fit, and then my explanation its a street rod with a motor and body from different cars. Then the computer keys start clicking and I am still talking. Can I just see your catalog of cooling temp sensors. Then you hear shouts to the other counter help anybody know where the sensor catalog is. All eyes then turn on me with this evil grin and in a low tone I here 'Dude needs a catalog'. Last stop again at one of the chain stores a more experienced teen actually knew there were catalogs to look up parts. He also knew of a Hayden kit 3647 that was adjustable and only $34. After going thru the catalog I found lots of Thermal Fan Switches some that may work. I may just go with the Hayden or call the rod shop and spend the $70 for that secret switch and the $5 relay that nobody else has.

If you put the sensor in the head, remember the temperature will be 10-12 degrees hotter than in the intake manifold. The 195/180 sensor may not shut off. I have the same temperature setting installed in the Intake manifold and it works great. for the heads, you may want a sensor with a higher setting.

I found a temperature switch that turns the fan on at 200 and off at 185. The switch has the mushroom head similiar to a knock sensor 3/8 pipe thread. Mid America Motor Works has it for $15.00 800-500-1500.
