Hey guys, some of you started discussing the idea of regional reps running some smaller shows for StreetRodding.com and it's members. I started this thread because we're interested in putting something like this together. Please tell us your thoughts about how it could work!

They could be the people handing out trophy's or help put on shows that are going on in area. I dont think reps trying to put shows on by themselves would work-too much competition.

I think the easiest way for folks from this site to get together is to have someone who lives close to each of the major events just plan an informal get-togehter on a Saturday evening after the event closes for the day. People are already in town and don't have to plan a separate trip. Most folks would be grateful for a place to sit down and relax after walkin their feet off all day anyway. It doesn't have to be at someones house - could be at a local burger joint or a picnic in a nearby park oe something.

I've helped put together shows and it's time consuming and not without some expenses. If you've got a budget to work with and plenty of lead time to organize and promote it, even small shows can be a lot of fun and very rewarding. It would also be a great way to promote Streetrodding.com and recruit new people, but I don't think you could do it just for your current membership alone...unless you've got strong membership in concentrated areas.

That's a hard one since the members all all over.

If there were some together. I know of a annual BBQ contest that has comtacted me the last 2 years about putting on a show with the BBQ contest.

But never has the manpower to put it together.

Regional reps, a good idea to help promote the site, but i don't believe any one or two people could put together a mini show without a great deal of support. There is already the Street Rodding.com trophy donation as a way to promote and spread the word. it would seem that any active members are always willing to jump in and help locally for any research, car approval, or emergency repairs. Therefore It seems to me that we are all regional reps already.Look at the work Robert does at the Father's day swap meet, or the big tent at Louisville. We are already doing it...............Just pick a meeting place for any show and talk it up........it will happen by itself.

I think it's a great idea. Doesn't have to be a show with trophies, can be a informal cruize at a local restaurant. Or as Robert said get together at a major event. ie; York.

if there were some printed information available to be handed out at events by regional reps and talk up the site I think it wouild enhance the number of visitors. even if the info was down loadable from the site ( for those who wish to support the idea ) I think it could be a huge help. Of course choosing reps that could put on a good face for the site would also be a challenge. Can't be too opinionated !!

Sounds like a great idea to me. A Rod shop that I'm a part of just outside of Knoxville would be willing to host an informal cruise in and meet at the shop. Not sure how many of you make NSRA Knoxville, but if it happens, count us in! As far as a "regional rep." hey, whatever everybody wants works for me I'd enjoy shaking hands with some of you.

You could also have something like the nsra fellow pages for SR.C members. In case some one needs help or just a get together when somebody is passing through their area.

the liability policy for a show alone is hard to cover. let one car get damaged or someone gets hurt and lawyers jump from planes. i've done many shows and unless it is covered by city insurance or sponsored by merchants you are a train wreck looking for a place to happen. we've been working on a show for several years because the one main show we liked has moved too far away and insist on being a clone of the nsra. i have a small town on board with a great park and everything you'd want. i hate big cities and will never do another show in one. it takes a group of people working for close

to a year to do one right. doubt we'll get it done this year but who knows. we dont want a huge thing just a few hundred cars. our last one was around 150 cars. it's a lot of work. one thing for sure is there will be no "pat me on the back plaques" at mine. just some club awards and my " road warrior award" and ofcourse a streetrodding.com award. participant votng screws up shows.

just my opinion if i'm still allowed to have one

How about putting togeather a list for us of members by state and region. Might give us a idea what we would be working with how many folks. I am a cruise in person my self, very little expense. Not much in the way of orgnization. Pulling these events togeather by region or state would be great. A rep could do that with a few other things i am sure.

My original comment about the regional reps was to use them to coordinate group get togethers at events - not run a show(at least not for starters). If there was a listing of members per state then maybe we could develop a network of reps who could coordinate activities at select events- good times without the hassle of all that a show entails. Believe me I spend enough time doing that each year, plus the cost of insurance, etc. these reps would work with the local membership to arrange group get togethers.

If a list were available on a state by state basis that would be a good starting point to determine what could be done. Maybe even make the list available to the members to be used like the NSRA book. That annual publication is used by the membership to get help in emergeny situations. I have been contacted by traveling NSRA members needing a helping hand. I think this group would also help one another.

Be glad to discuss this further with you guys if you like.

i would suggest a traveling streetrodding.com banner. we put up a 20x20 awning and have a crazyhorse banner on it. gives us a place to get out of the sun and it lets folks know where we are. put it in a shipping tube and send it to the next show.

Shawn, I think your idea is the one that makes the most sense at this point. Many of you do help with local shows and attend national events and if we could support you with possible volunteers from the site, a banner like Shine suggested and maybe a fliers to hand out at events we could grow the local support of the site and work up to a show. I would say we could ship a tent around the country but frankly that gets pretty pricey. We have a SR tent that could be sent for big events but it might be better to have a couple of big banners that ship more easily. I am attending the Route 66 Cruisers meeting (in Springfield) this month to ask them about having me attend a few of their events as a volunteer. I will in turn ask to promote SR and maybe put some goodies on the prize table. Lets start by having you e-mail me your User Name, Actual Name, address, city, state, zip, phone, cell, and a picture of you/your car so I can compile a list of interested members. You can then tell me if you want to be a representative, volunteer or just in the volunteer pages. I would use the Member list but this way I know you want to participate. E-mail it to Tammy@streetrodding.com

All great ideas, but a few additional thoughts too. Manning a tent for three days at a rod event can be ridiculously tiring. If that's the plan there needs to be multiple volunteers working in shifts. We go to the shows to participate in events, see cars, and meet people. Being stuck to a chair only lets us meet people. That said, I'm more than willing to work shifts at major west coast events.

Is anyone here a GG rep? As I recall, GG reps are reimbursed for their fuel expenses when they lead tours and such, and cover entrance fees, but I don't know if GG's does much more for their reps than that. Can anyone else elaborate?

You are in the hat Bigdude, 31Tudor, Brian41Chevy, and 40Merc but I just didn't want to assume that you want me to put your name down unless I hear it from you. I am making a list that I will put on the site when we have a few more names.

There are some shows that consider setting up a tent as being a vendor. Some clubs charge for it. I like the idea of informal meets until we could figure out how many people would be interested in manning a tent. How about sending out business cards with SR info on it that could be placed in all the cars at shows like the other flyers we get? I agree we should have a list by state of all members with phone numbers and towns.

I have been involved in doing pretty large Car Shows in past, but have a bad back from auto accident, not my fault. But if I could put my Two Cents worth, there is a way !! If somrone could put together a book like NSRA does, like Fellow Pages. If everyone could send their name and address to someone like dixie, with a check donation to put name and addresses together, with each State. Get some quotes from different Printers, and go from there! I am located 30 miles East of Cinn. Oh. I like the SR Nats. at Knox. not so hot. It does rain once in awhile. Just have to get members together in different areas and work from there.

Something else, for Liability purpose, have it at a State Park, and everyone chip in with different kinds of food. We do one in this area about every year! Oh ! I added a picture of one of my buddies at GG in Columbus last year! He doesn't know i did it!

Just a idea,, Get a list going where people are from. That way they can tell who is close and get in touch with each other, and see what all they can or could or would like to do.

Well okay then!! You can put me down. A couple years ago I offered up my garage to anyone that had problems or what ever. I would work a tent booth what ever we call it. I have even thought of a cook out on the last night. I live in Ozark Mo for the ones that come to the spring show in Srpingfield Mo. Like 29 said just a place to relax. I know those of you that come to the show eat at a place called Lamberts, I am in that area so not to far from the show.

Artie, went to the boat show last week and stopped at Lambert's If you go home hungry, it's your own fault. Like the idea of our area getting together at the Nat's. If not, maybe there would be someplace those going to the Nat's could get together on the Thursday or something. I gave up my membership of NSRA a couple years ago but if that was where everyone wanted to meet, I might just sign up again. At least I would get reading material for a year!! :-)

O.K. Fellas, I am adding your names. I agree that a list of names would be great. Our garage is not set up for heavy duty mechanical work anymore but I could always give up my spot in the shop for a repair or help someone find a solution in the area. I suppose if we are going to meet up before some of these bigger events we need to know which ones you are attending. Maybe when Eriq gets a minute (ha-ha) he can put something on the car show page where you can put in your user name if you are going to a specific show. Any other ideas?

Ok don't forget to put my name and number on ther list! If you guys want to meet on Thrusday of the Nats I can help arrange something. The fairgrounds is about 15/20 minutes from me. Let me know how many and what you would like to see/do and I'll try to put it together. My shop is ALWAYS open to anyone with a problem in my area.

I now try to promote the site whenever I can locally and at runs so count me in

We, at The StreetRod Store in sunny Southern NJ, host an appreciation day each year. It is always scheduled on the Saturday following the NSRA York, PA event which happens to be the second Saturday in June. We call the event the NJ NSRA Member Appreciation Day for lack of a better title, but is not limited to NSRA members. We always have a NSRA Rep and NSRA Safety Rep for the day to help promote the NSRA in our area. In a nutshell, this event is a no-cost, non-judged event that is getting larger every year. It is an opportunity for car lovers to get together and enjoy the day. We feed everyone in attendance breakfast and lunch and have door prizes that are donated by the manufacturers who we are dealers for.

We invite manufacturers, and representatives to attend as we feel that we must provide as much information as we can to continue to support this passion that we have. We are seeing more and more classics on the road and we want to help keep this moving forward. I like the idea of local reps and a spin-off of the NSRA Fellow Pages. Car people are good people, and we are always willing to help.

Anything that we can do to support the passion and keep everyone informed is in everyone's best interest! Please let us know what we can do to help . . . we are in!

My garage is always open for some one who has trouble with their Street Rod. I have a lift and most all tools that are needed, if not have a few buddies around that have the tools. Again, I am located 35 miles E. of Cinn.

My buddy Mike has a lift also. I put his '32 on, again he doesn't know I did it.

been asked where I am located. just south of Louisville, Ky off I-65 We have a retail rod parts store and an install shop so we can handle most repairs in house Every year I get 2 or 3 traveling to the Nats with a problem stop in for last minute 'fixes'. Always glad to help. also have assisted in many in & out door shows/cruises and will gladly help again. If we all helped one another we would creaye a MUCH better world
