I just had my radiator rebuilt for my 30 Model A. As you all know. a radiator in a Model A takes alot of abuse (BUGS). Most radiators are painted at the shop with some kind of petroleum based paint that will easily rub off with any kind of solvent (to clean the BUGS) or even a strong detergent. And, naturally, my rebuilr radiator shop used this type of paint on the core. I want to paint over it with a satin or flat black paint that will hold up to scrubbing bugs off. Has anyone felt the need to do this or has done this before? I am looking for "how to" or recommendations on the type and manufacturer to use.

Thanks a bunch

Thanks Al,

I checked out the Eastwood Web site. Like I said, The Radiator shop painted the core with their "Standard Radiator paint" I think they said it was "Petroleum based" and it is very thin. Didn't cover well either. I am wondering if I can recoat over it with the Eastwood Satin Black paint. I would be a bit** to try and strip off what they put on. Hundreds of tiny fins spaced about 1/16th inch apart.

Also, do you know of any automotive stores (or other stores) that carry the Eastwood products?
