Here is the issue that I'm having with my front disk brakes. I can not get the outside pad in place do to limited space and if you force same in, I'm unable to turn the hub by hand. The company that sold the mustang type ll front end with brakes are saying that I should sand down the outside brake pads to fit and another company is telling me to machine 1/16 of the inside of the mounting bracket to allow the caliper move closer to the rotor. and would also allow a 1/16 of an inch to the outside brake pad. I'm not sure which way to go and am looking for some help or advise. The information below was supplied with the kit.

Spindles: 1974-1978 Ford mustang, 1974-1980 Ford Pinto or Mercury Bobcat

Rotors: 1977 Camaro Bearing/Races: 1974-1978 Ford Mustang

Calipers: 1978 Chevrolet Malibu Caliper pins: 1978 Chevrolet Malibu

Linings: 1978 Chevrolet Malibu

Seals: CR 50 X 8 DL

even with the piston depressed they will be tight. check your bearings and be sure your rotor is seating all the way.

make sure you are using ford style bearings and races in this GM rotor so they will fit the mustang spindles. Also did those races come allready pressed in those rotors?

Your calipers and rotor match, so something must be causing the rotor to be slightly off center. I'm going to agree, check the inner race and bearings. If it's not that, somethings funky with either the spindle or the mounting of the caliper.

Do a visual and feel to make sure those races are down on the landing inside the rotor. Try the bearing on the spindle to make sure it fits all the way on and over the spindle. Is this on both sides or just one? Good luck.

X 2 on checking the bearings. If memory serves correctly, you can get a bearing that fits the spindle, and the race is slightly different fot the rotor used, moving the bearing out. Sucks, but if you can't address the cleararnce issue you might want to remove the inner race & Inspect it.

Thanks Guys,

I have given everything the once other and all seems to be in place as it should be. I did find out by accidentally dropping the front pad on the ground that there was a extra thin plate with the manufacture name on it on the back side of the pad. It is about 1/16 inch thick. With this plate removed it allows the front pad to seat smuggle against the rotor and I'm able to turn the hub by hand.

Thanks Again
