If a car does not have a title then RUN away. Too many things can happen, one of which the vehicle they are selling isn't theirs! Two thing are fundimental, a sound frame and a title.

there are states like ny that don't use titles for under certian years. just a reg. i live in ny and never had a problem. you can get a title/reg. lots of places for allmost any year car if you look around.

Their can be some good projects out there with out titles. I myself would not be afraid to buy with out a title if it was a good price. Most of the projects by talking to the owners you can find out why it don't have a title and get a feel that it wasn't a stolen veheicle. Yes it might be a hassel and it might not just depends on how you go about it. Just my opinion. You can always offer less with out a title and save enough to get it titled.

I see a lot of cars listed from states that sellers claim thier state dont issue titles beyond some years, only bill of sales.I just keep looking because I am afraid of problems.I dont know how these states keep track of cars.I know Florida make you jump thru some hoops. On last car it didn't have weight listed and I was told to take car to a weight station.I went to another DMV and had no problem. That was a first for me,maybe lucky.

Check your DMV for the laws about it. Some states are bad about gettign titles. Also even if the title is good and the VIN# is not State issued, some states will not except that.
