I don't know why I'm asking this as no one here ever has an opinion (HE HE) I have loked at many gas tanks and other than galvanized, stainless, stamped metal, poly, what is the big differences. They can run $200.00 to $800.00 easy. Suggestions? Anybody know what would be wrong with a $200.00 stamped, top feed, tank?

I have a Tanks poly tank in my 46 Ford sedan. Everything is fine, until I fill my tank full. It tends to leak at the vent fitting, which is a fitting pushed through a rubber groment on the top of the tank. I am adding a return line this winter and thinking I may be better off with a steel tank. Anyone have any sujections?

Galvanized steel tank is the way to go , I don't think stainless is worth the cost.

I've had two poly tanks and really liked both. Notice that most of the new cars come with poly tanks. Also had a very good experience with TANKS when I ordered one for my '35 Ford Pickup. Won't rust, near bulletproof and can be painted.

I would get a steel one and paint it, Or dig deep for the polished Stainless one, Just because it will be the biggest thing you see when you look under the car. Personally I would do the Painted one because its easier to clean. Im not a big fan of the poly tanks because they sag and they don't dressup well, but you never have a rust problem, but then again, How offten do you ever hear about a rust problem in tanks unless their 20 years old and setup unused.

Jim has specialized in tanks and senders for 42 years.
NEVER use sealer in a original tank. Next Spring it will cost you $200 to have the roll back take you home. I loved the cheapskate builders that called in the summer for a new tank then spent $18 for sealer. Touleen is the only cleaner for gas...boom !! Ever try to paint over a greasy hand print?
Hi-tech/show, go polished stainless. Stocker/classic, go poly or NEW plated steel. Basic driver/budget, go poly. Fuel injected MUST GO PUMP IN TANK....did you read my lips ?? So go TANKS poly or stainless or Rock Valley.
Always run a ground wire from sender screw to ground. Place a fuel filter in the vent hose so it won't suck dirt and water. Back in 1962, DOT outlawed bottom fed tanks for a good reason, so forget the speed shop fuel cell. Aluminum boat tanks are Marine approved but not DOT approved...SAFETY FIRST.
Yep, Jim said it again.......410 535 1933
