Still driving the wife's car, cause I am slow.

SOUTHWORTH, Wash. - A man trying to loosen a stubborn lug nut blasted the wheel with a 12-gauge shotgun, injuring himself badly in both legs, sheriff's deputies said.

The 66-year-old man had been repairing a Lincoln Continental for two weeks at his home northwest of Southworth, about 10 miles southwest of Seattle, and had gotten all but one of the lug nuts off the right rear wheel by Saturday afternoon, Kitsap County Deputy Scott Wilson said.

"He's bound and determined to get that lug nut off," Wilson said.

From about arm's length, the man fired the shotgun at the wheel and was "peppered" in both legs with buckshot and debris, with some injuries as high as his chin, according to a sheriff's office report.

"Nobody else was there and he wasn't intoxicated," Wilson said.

The man was taken to Tacoma General Hospital with injuries Wilson described as severe but not life-threatening.

11/13/07 Noon: Garage explosion shakes South Valley neighborhood

ALBUQUERQUE - A South Valley man is shaken, but recovering, after an explosion sparked as he was working in his garage.

Firefighters say the man, 33, was vacuuming up gasoline from the trunk of his car when the wet/dry vacuum sparked an explosion.

The explosion sent his garage door flying across the street and rattled numerous nearby homes near the intersection of Unser and Arenal SW.

The man is lucky to be alive, firefighters said. He suffered first- and second-degree burns and is recovering.

"Man recovering after garage explosion"

There are surely idiots in abundance out there. This story is the similar to one in the Maryland area last year, when an 80+ year old man left his keys in the ignition and the car running and then accidently locked himself out of the car. So he left the car running figuring that the gas would soon run out, but it didn't. So he got his trusty wet/dry vac and started sucking the fuel out of the tank. End result the same. KABOOM!!! Man had 1st and 2nd degree burns but lived. Said he won't do that again. Duh, you think?

It's a shame the guy from GA didn't see the article about the old guy from Maryland sooner. Might have saved him some misery.

Then there was the guy who was cutting a hole with a torch for conduit into the top of a spray booth used for painting street sweepers ----- while the booth was being used. The guy landed in the parking lot next door. Won't be doin that again! What do ya put on your job application when it says "Why did you leave your last job?"
