No need to use cage nuts if the frame has not been boxed yet. I use a large fender washer and weld a nut into the middle of it then weld it to the frame under the hole. It the frame has been boxed already then just cut a hole in the frame the size of a washer (with nut welded to the bottom of it) and weld it to the frame. Don't try to use "nutcerts". They are special aluminum nuts inserted witha pop rivit looking gun. Not enough strenght for body mounts etc. Just right for number plates. 8th inch is a little heavy I think but would make the frame strong and add a little weight low. Match the gauge of the existing rails. Weld slow and skip around to keep the warpage down.

put the bolt thru the frame and tighten, then just spot the nut good.
