I ended up getting a tube style engine mount that welds to the frame rails for my SBC. It is the "typical" one you see in the catalogs with an 8" drop and Nova pads. In the other post you can see the tranny I am using-- it is a 4L60 (700R4) with a Caprice (TH400 mount) style tailpiece. If I use another tube style mount for the tailpiece... Can someone tell me from experience what drop I will need? I don't have the engine and tranny mocked up yet-- and would like to order the part to have it when I need it. I am guessing maybe a 4" drop? Anybody?

Mark

Doesn't that kinda depend on what elevation the engine mounts are at? Mine's a 350/350 combo in a Model A chassis with a tube style "removeable" crossmember. It (the crossmember) bolts in so it can be removed to pull the tranny out the bottom if necessary. I'd be happy to give you the dimensions on mine if you think it will help any.

I just wouldn't know without mocking it up first. There isn't much room up/down for where the motor mounts will end up.. and the driveshaft angle certainly won't be steep. I was just hoping someone would know. I am guessing either a 2" or 4" drop.
