Wanted to get opinions on running a carb spacer on a 350 with edelbrock performer intake and edelbrock 600 cfm carb. Is a 1 inch spacer what i want to go with ? What brand spacer? should i use the open plenum spacer or the one with the 4 holes in the spacer? Thanks for the suggestions.

heath seeing that you run a edelbrock carb they are known to as edelbrock calls it perculate the gas on the engine . when eng is hot and you shut it down the gas gets real hot and will evaporate some . i went with the phenolic spacer and a wood fiber ontop of that. just as a extra measure . i now pay the extra money when building a car and go with the air gap manifold that cures the the heat troubles . heath if you have the room under the hood go as high as you want . if not sure of hood clearance take a piece of playdo or something simmular roll it into a ball and lay it on top of the air cleaner you run now at the highest spot close hood all the way and see if it crushs the ball and mearure the ball and see how much is left that will get you close good luck bob in ny

Ok, thanks for the responses .. I have plenty of clearance under the hood. Sound like i atleast need to go with a 1 inch phenolic spacer. I will give that a shot and go from there. Thanks.....

I have a 600 edelbrock performer on my 350. When I put the car away for the day within 10 min. I get alot of gas fumes that travel into the house. Is this caused by the carb perculate? I have room under the hood for a spacer but not sure if this will solve the problem. What adjustments will I need to do to the carb if I add a spacer of say 1"? Tommy

Use the 4 hole phenolic variety. The open plenum will cause severe cough & backfiring when you punch it! I know, I tried em both! I kept thinking the carb or the timing was at fault. Problems went away with the 4 holer!
