the chassis of the 52 panel truck has been cut at the openning of the passenger door. the frame rail was reinstalled below stock rail. this allows the passenger floor to be level with the running board. it looks to be done this way from the factory, but have never seen this or have ever heard of this on anything other than a step van. any help would be great.

That don't sound right, That frame should be basicly the same as all 47-53 trucks, There shouldn't be a step in the frame.

it could be a wheelchair, i will try to post some pictures of the chassis soon. it really looks as if it was some sort of delivery vehicle though. but the conversion really looks factory.

Everything on those frames is riveted at the factory, no welding. If that mod. is factory it would be riveted like the rest of the frame. I've never seen anything like that on a panel before. Some kind of custom modification at some point in its life.
