Well, the cab is now mostly located on the new chassis. I only had to lift it 2 inches off of the original mounts to get the nose to clear the frame. The good news there is that the tires should tuck up into the fenders fairly well... I'd like to NOT have to widen the fenders if I can get away with it. The bad news... I go in for surgery Wednesday morning to get my shoulder fixed... Not too much choice there. It hurts to shave and comb what little hair I have left, so I'm getting it fixed.. Even better? Off work for a min of 4 weeks :)

Sorry about the poor pic. Fluorescent lites really suck and it was blowin about 40mph today, so I didn't push it outside into better lighting

Davy, tall doesn't begin to cover that description.. The floor of the cab is right at 42 inches off the floor of the shop and the original radiator cap is about 7'6". Won't be a pickup tho.. Too tall for that, so it will be some type of flat deck with a 5th wheel hitch for the future camper. Right now, the chassis is 20ft long, so there are many options to think thru. Now if I can just find 2 extra cabs to play with, I can envision 2 more doors and possibly a small sleeper behind the cab.

Thanks for the kind wishes.. I plan to the the doc Wed morn not to "F" it up or I'm gonna haunt him for the rest of his days and beyond. Besides, I have way too much to do yet.

I'll be around thru Tuesday evening, then I'll probably take a week off the computer.

COOl! Can appreciate the trouble you're having workin on that truck with the shoulder problems. My light weight Model A was bad enough, but you got some heavy stuff there! Sounds like Rotator Cuff repair. I had that done to my left shoulder several years ago. Know about not being able to brush your teeth or comb your hair. The idea is to put the tooth brush in your hand and hold it still while you shake your head back and forth. LOL. I received my chassis and all the suspension parts the day I got out of the hospital, and wasn't supposed to move my arm. It's amazing how much you can get done with one arm and two feet. Good luck with your shoulder and the truck.

Yup Robert, you called it. Rotator cuff tear on the left shoulder.. And damned if if I'm left handed to boot! I don't have to worry about brushin the teeth tho.... I fixed that problem almost 2 years ago.... Now I brush 'em and put 'em back in. Needless to say, the truck gets a rest from my trials, more errors, and plenty of curses for a while.. Maybe it'll jump together while I'm laid up??? Sigh, probably not, so I get even more time to plot and plan

Dixie, Chop it???? heck no... I've hit my head on the roofs of big trucks before, so why would I want to do it again?? I wanna stretch it so there's room for the grand kids. here's a photoshopped pic of the "master plan"

You already know this, but the fronts of the rear doors need to be squared off, and not matching the angle of the windshield like the front doors are. IMO.

Will be a cool piece, for sure. I wish you well.

Dale, that's the plan if I can find enough "spare parts" to do it. Finding parts for a 62 year old truck isn't that easy.. Call it a Dodge truck and you compound that problem a lot more.. The Dodge Brothers made lots of trucks, but they seem to be hard to find.
