I also have ongoing problems with this site. I have tried Firefox, IE and Opera and it makes no difference. When I log on and go to the forums I can respond to some of them and others show me as not logged in. After going through the log in process again I still get the same results. So far I cannot pick out a pattern to this problem, some forum topics work, some don't. Also, e-mails that I try to originate in this site come back with an error message, something about not recognized. Also, I just discovered that I cannot send email to Erig. The other 3 people in the contact us list pop up with dialog boxes but Erig's says that I have to create an email account. I have sent this in several times before but I have no idea it ever made it.

A lot things here don't work with FireFox, so I use IE 6. Try disabling your firewall temporarily and see what you get.

bohlsd, i'm sorry you're having these problems. i can't figure out what would cause this to occur for only a couple of people but not for everyone because it's all the same code.

it has to be something in your browser's settings that is messing with your cookies. you see, the internet is a "stateless" environment which means that once you visit a page, that's it, the server knows nothing else about you, when you click on a link to go to another page the server has no idea who you are. to get around this we use "cookies", this is a small text file that is placed on your computer and it's presence allows our server to know who you are, to see if you are logged in, to let you do things that only a logged in user can do. when you've logged in and then the next page doesn't know about it that means the cookie was erased somehow.

try going into your browser's preferences and adding our site as a "trusted site", this should override other settings for your cookies.

in the meantime, i'm trying to get some free time to write a more "lightweight" site that doesn't try to do everything on every page.

I installed a wireless network adapter not long ago, screwed up lots of things on my PC.   I just reinstalled everything minus the adapter and this site now works pretty good with Firefox, except posting in forums.   The new version of ZoneAlarm security suite is a source of a lot of problems, they're getting about as bad as Norton, trying to shovel in too many "features" and screwing things up instead.   I'm looking for a flathead operating system, anyone know of a good one? [grin]
