Hey everybody, hope all of you will get out to Pigeon Forge for this years "Shades" and then the "Grand". Just wanted you to be aware that 2 new roads are open and will help to navigate the Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, area. As you enter the Sevierville red light at the Chevy dealership, keep to the LEFT. There is a new set of red lights that will direct you to a new road called Veterans Blvd. It has been open 6 weeks now and is a bypass around the mess that is the Parkway between PF and Sevierville. You can exit at Collier Drive make a left and you are about 1 1/2 mile from the music road area. the front entrance to Shades. Also as you drive in from the 407 exit of I 40 about 3 1/2 miles on the right is a new Pilot station (just past the knife works) on the right at a red light, this light was there last year, but the Pilot was not. Turn right at the Pilot, go 1 1/2 mile turn left on the Old Knoxville highway, and follow straight about 8 - 10 miles and you pull up at the front gate to Shades. NO kidding! It'll save you some time and effort, and some serious headaches! Hope to see you all there.

Hey, Thanks. I plan to go to the Shades and you are correct, the Parkway traffic is a mess. And it is not all the streetrodders fault. We have been going to this show for years and really enjoy it and the cruising at night. In the past few years, we have noticed that a lot of clerks and local people don't seem to appreciate our business. And the hotel rates, whew!!! We are going back anyway, at least one more time. Enjoy the show and the swap meet very much.

Thanks for the info on the new roads, it's got to help. We got tired a long time ago of being ripped off Friday and Saturday night by the motels when they jack up the price of the rooms by $100. We now rent a chalet in the mountain behind the rod run. It's almost as much as a motel room but much nicer. It comes with everything you need including a hot tub. Its definetly the way to go. We still go to town at night for the cruising but return to the peace and quiet of the chalet.

I enjoy the Shades event in spite of the heavy traffic. Great chances on winning a giveaway vehicle and alot of nice people attend the event from all over the country! I also like cruising the strip late at night as there is alot of action out there and great things to see! I will be there again this year!

Hey David long lost relative Donald Walker here. Hey when you say a new Pilot Station are you talking about the light there by Swaggerty's Sausage and the road that leads out to Douglas Dam and Dwight Romines salvage yard? I think it Hwy 139 or 136? I plan to go Friday for the day. Thanks

Hey Donald.... wow I had an uncle named Donald, small world....are you my Dads brother? LOL anyway, the new pilot is past Swggertys about 2 miles just over the river past the knife works (should have said that the first time.... my bad ) take that right (Boyds Creek Rd) go about 1 1/2 mile over the hill and take the left onto old Knox hgwy. (See Oak Haven sign) Pass golf course and new multi million dollar waste of taxpayer money called the convention center - that would be it hidden behind the new multi million dollar parking garage (no kidding they built the garage in front of the building) - and keep going for about 8 miles keep going on the road you're on that includes one right turn, can't miss it and you'll be at the front entrance to Shades call me if you have trouble e-mail for phone # dwinspector21@aol.com what day will you arrive?

Dave, thanks for the tips. Man that sure helped us after the show...getting then back into pick others up. I love the Sevierville Parking Complex. Someone from Cincinnati must have designed that building. That's crazy. MAN, was it hot there Sat. We were toast by the middle of the day. The vendor area was huge. We never made it to see cars.
